Video Xbox 360 PS3

It is official now, you simply cannot stop DjMizuhara when he starts capturing stuff. So now here come two videos of Tekken 6 in action. The first video shows the new campaign mode in a beat'em all style and the second one presents us the more usual battle mode.

i'm interested in this.. but only for nostalgia reasons as ive not owned tekken since tekken3.. so i wanna be weirded out by seeing how those characters have ages, and what inane story lines attached to them this time.

Full price for it though? not a chance

The campaign mode does look pretty rough cause of how un smooth the characters movements through the world look. It's so stiff compared to the rest of the animations I think.

Based off the 1 V. 1 video it looks to be pretty well designed. I don't see any glaring design flaws. As long as its fun and not crippled by something at release I'll be picking it up. The graphics are good enough.

I haven't had a tekken since the third game as well and I'm actually kind of excited to check this out.

I can't wait for my copy to arrive. Really gotten into Tekken 5 DRO recently (Asuka-san is my favorite). Well, it's a love it or hate it kind of thing, but I'll try to explain to the haters...

First thing, Tekken isn't about innovation. And that's perfectly fine if you like the formula of the game; It's very accessible for newcomers, easy to have fun, other than games like Street Fighter; but it also has this incredible depth that fighting game lovers require. Combining both aspects hasn't been done better in any other fighting game.
And yes, the game has an amazing depth. Lots of it.

Second, this "campaign" mode is nothing more than a poorly executed gimmick. And the good thing about gimmicks is that you can ignore them; Fighting games are for Player VS Player matches and nothing else. Single player experience doesn't belong in this genre.

Third, everyone who criticizes the game's looks (especially those DoA fans) should realize that this game isn't new, it's a revision of an arcade game that has been made a few years ago. Also, as long as it looks better than Tekken 5, we Tekken fans are pleased. We'll enjoy the game for countless hours even if it's ugly in your opinion.

Yeah, no unlimited hours of fun just isn't worth it. I've played Tekken 5 since release. That's a good return on your money.

Well there's me and seeing as how Tekken is possibly the largest fighter in terms of sales (i think?) a whole bunch of other people. Just because you don't understand the subtleties of the game does not mean that other people have the same problem.

The campaign mode looks like shite but anyone complaining about that has missed the point completely. If that is your main concern then this is not for you. If you think that it's just the same game all over again i suggest you either 1) educate yourself or 2) sod off.

Yeah well someone has to stand up for this game. Fighters earn way too little respect now days. I mean scrubs that don't understand the game and reviewers that have no clue bash it without reason. The gameplay is very different but to someone who just slaps his palms against the controller with Eddy i could see how that is not self evident. But that's not playing the game, thats not even trying.

Megido, do you have the PS3 version? If so, how about adding me to your friend list so we can beat the crap out of each other some time? I don't have the game yet, should arrive in 10 days with some other games I ordered.

As PSN really does not work well for me (got black bars when playing a friend across town and i have 10/10 mbit and he has 100/10 mbit) i'm going for the 360 version. Otherwise i would have taken you up on that.

Supposedly the online play on this is borked regardless of version, it's cited as the main reason for somewhat lackluster reviews. Ironically, despite brilliant online play I didn't play a whole lot of Virtua Fighter 5 online though. I just can't seem to capture that same air of competition that live on the couch action inspires.

Well, online play is for when you just don't have anyone around to play with :)
Ofc i prefer to play against a real player but finding serious players in your vicinity is often hard. I have two friends who i can play with, one is a hell of a lot better than me (though the gap is closing little by little) and then a guy who plays but he doesn't really seem to think too much about what he does. Interesting matches are therefore limited and online would be great. I'm hoping that the online complaints in t6 are exaggerated or that they'll do something about it and patch the game or something...i dunno, but at any rate it's still going to be nice to have a new game to play.

Srsly. Soul Calibur 4 and SF4 have given me a combined hundreds of hours of game time. That's value.

I got into VF5 extremely late.. but I adore the online functionality in the previously mentioned two releases. It's not perfect, but it adds a ton of replay value.

@ Megido: Ohh, well that's a shame.

@ SimonM7: The online mode works perfectly for DJMizuhara though... well, I would prefer the live on the couch method too, but my friends either hate fighting games or get their asses kicked so badly that they swear to never play a fighting game against me again. Pussies.

edit: Oh, I guess that's the Ghost Battle mode. Well, let's hope they fix the issues, I don't wanna pwn bots all the time.

Another response to Megido, the lag in the online mode seems pretty bad, but in a game where timing is so important, any amount of lag is game-breaking. Isn't Tekken 6 running on dedicated servers? Maybe they're just crowded. If Tekken 6 is running on P2P, that would be bad news; rewriting net code is a pretty big deal.

3 was neat for it's features, but nothing beats 2 for pure strategic/twitch gameplay.

My friends hate most fighters too. Well, except Soul Calibur 4 which I hate. :(

I've managed to condition them into liking VF5 now though, which is an enormous feat because nobody likes that but me, and I won't even press my luck with other faves of mine like King of Fighters and Tekken.

Virtua Fighter is my personal favorite but i've accepted that the series is dead now. I doubt we'll ever see a VF6. Therefore Tekken is the new #1. SCIV is a joke, there's no damn punishment in the game. Just pick a fast enough character and you'll never have any significant frame disadvantage. And when you do get to punish some act of frivolous retardation (like picking your bum, like most players do 99% of the time) your punishment will chip a few pixels off the life bar. I'm no genius when it comes to SCIV but being super aggressive just gets you too far in that game imo. Guard impacts should be helpful but optional, unfortunately they are basically mandatory.

A friend of mine who already has the game told me that he didn't experience lag as long as both players' pings were fine. Just like in SFIV; if you boot all the players with bad ping, you'll never see any lag. That's a relief.

Well when my faster mid attacks are too slow or, as often happens, lack the range to punish (since 90% of attacks have sick pushback) it can be very hard to punish to say the least. Sure if i pick Mitsurugi or or something, then i can punish some stuff but with Nightmare? I'm boned if i meet some fucker spamming combos with Talim since no attack will have both the range and speed needed to punish/interrupt. I mean Talim can interrupt my fastest mid poke. That's just silly.

No i never said there not worth the money, just i personally cant justify it, i have never been a fan of playing fighters online, and only time i touch SF4 is when friends come round
On your lonesome, i just dont find these games as intresting as when i was a child :( which is a shame because i used to love them

Plus i am now old and WoW has destroyed my response times :(
