Xbox 360 PS3

2K Games just sent us the long video of The Darkness, from the now rather old E3 build of the game. All the more or less small flaws we can see in this video will without a doubt be fixed in the final game, as Starbreeze isn't known not to polish their games.

I wouldnt be too disapointed, this is an E3 build which means its from early May. Im sure lots has changed since then but it really makes me wonder why they keep showing off this build and not something more current.

Wow, that is so awesome!

Somethings obviously need to change, like AI, but damn they have some great ideas there. I don't know if those two things to your side will get annoying after a while as they take too much of the screen and they cast a weird light to some objects. Also, I'm not sure if the dual aim reticule is going to work very well.

You can tell they are obviously using the Riddick engine or at least, a lot of stuff from that engine........sadly jaggies are included into this :( The lighting looks VERY much like that of Riddick.

Very very good though, hoping for the best, go Starbreeze!

They already stated they arent using the riddick engine, this is new. Your seeing jaggies because this is from MAY which means its incredibly old and unoptimized code.

Well I and many others have been horrible mis-informed. It has been all over the place that the riddick engine is being used jsut an upgraded version.

I watched a video interview with one of the Starbreeze reps last week, and he stated they are using a modified version of the Riddick engine. So while they've added a number of cool features (and presumably optimized it to run on multi-core systems), it does have its roots in Riddick.

awesome game man, but was it just me or the graphics was some sort of NOT like the screenshots?
Because the game isnt out for couple of months from now, the AI will be upgraded like any other coming soon games. Other than that, I love it how you can release those "evil monkeys" on your enemy.

even if they are using a riddick game engine,RIDDICK ESCAPE FROM BUTCHER BAY WAS AWESOME,SO IF THEY TAKEN BEST BITS FROM THAT AND OPTIMIZED IT,IM LOOKING EVEN MORE FORWARD TO OWNING THIS GAME IN THE FUTURE

Thank you, I knew there was something from Riddick there, some things look almost identical.

The wall at 4:55 look pretty much like those in Riddick, and at 4:57 I can almost swear I've seen that same light with the same shadows in Riddick. Here it is: http://images.xboxyde.com/gallery/public/4423/788_...

Riddick looks and IS awesome, so it's a positive comment:

I spoke to one of the darkness-developers on a swedish 360-forum. He said that the build was over a year old and was never intended for the public. The video is a leak.
Note the text "Confidential...." ;)

The video shows a test-level where the AI is totally scripted. The AI doesnt actually behave like that.
