Sega was showing a playable version of its next-gen Sonic at the Japan Expo, an event happening this weekend in Paris. Here are two videos (X360 version), showcasing the two characters of the game in two different levels. A third video is also on its way, and should please those for who "Sonic" rhymes with "Speed"...
Update : The second video is now online for good this time.
Update 2 : Third video added.

I wish they had concentrated on just Sonic for this game though, I'm not liking the White hedgehog much, would have prefered Knuckles or Tails as a second character personally.
Really looking forward to this and it will be good to have Sonic back.
The white hedgehog reminds me of Mew 2.
Oh and btw does anyone else feel like its E3 again, lol. There's been so many updates lately, xboxyde rawks :)

I think for many they still remember Sonic in his Megadrive/Genesis days, although Sonic Adventure was really good, since then they have dropped the ball.
Sega doesn't seem to care much now that they aren't developing games for their own system. (or so it seems)
And at 1:00... poor filtering strakes again. Note the roadmark. :/
Sonic doesn't have the attention to detail that Mario does.

See ya in 2 weeks.
I just can't get excited about platformers anymore but for the platformer lovers, this game looks pretty decent.
I think the biggest issue with 3D Sonic games is that they try to be really fast AND unforgiving in the same way the 2D games were. Needless to say, in a 3D space there are about a billion ways to screw up compared, and the controls have quite frankly been something of a twitchy mess throughout these 3D endeavours. That said, both SA1 and 2 had quite good fast paced gameplay, and the thing that really messed up Heroes was the team mechanic that while a good idea was implemented badly. Why not just have a set button for each character when you use them all to rotate anyway? Mind bogglingly stupid.
Sonic Advance 1-3, Sonic Battle, Sonic Riders and Sonic Rush have all been good or brilliant though, so I wouldn't really complain too much. If this turns out pants there's always Sonic Wildfire that already has a warmer, more natural look, and with its on rails approach it's sure to be an insanely fast AND perfectly controllable experience.
Either way I'll gobble it up as long as it's Sonic. :O :| :)
I'm a big Sonic fan as well, and personally I knew I had to get next gen just to be able to play the new Sonic titles, it was a big reason for me
Sega needs to bring back the Chao raising, and allow for trade over marketplace, that would be insane
Not only that but chao races/competitions over live
Quit trying to create new characters that somehow fit "current trends" and just stick with the original 3 everyone knows and loves
But I have no doubt this game will bring Sonic back in good graces, their has been too much outcry after games like Heroes. With the name back to its original state lets hope this means they are trying to fix his good name
