While all eyes are set on GTA V these days, there was absolutely no way we could not talk about rain, the next digital exclusive to come on PS3 on October 2. We got a chance to play the first three chapters of the game and we captured some gameplay footage for you guys. Of course, we've also decided to share our thoughts about it, so what are you waiting for?
First impressions
It might just be the beginning of the game, but we fell under its spell in no time. For the first time in our life, we're actually looking forward to the next rainy night when we can finally continue our adventure with the little insible boy and the mysterious girl he's trying to catch up with. From what we could see, gameplay mechanics seem to be pretty simple overall, offering what could very well be the perfect mix between Ico and Journey and, even more surprising maybe, the very first poetic stealth game ever. Indeed, the city itself is full of poetry carefully placed across the cityscape, within the rain itself, and even in the haunting soundtrack. Yugo Kanno even used Debussy's Clair de Lune as the main theme of the game, adding some vocals to the famous masterpiece. The overall mood of the music sets the tone and gives rain its melancholic feel, but it sometimes fades away too, leaving just the sound effects to build up the poignant atmosphere. Of course, before we can know for sure if SCE Japan's title truly deserves such praise, we'll have to be a bit more patient. Find out our final verdict of the game on October 1, and until then, enjoy the videos!
