Uncharted is back with these long and gigantic gameplay video filmed last week at the Game Convention. Needless to say that only Bittorrent downloads are available.

copied gears of war? LOL, you realise games before gears did that right?

EDIT : wow, you can shoot while hanging onto a ledge, didnt know you could do that, pretty cool.

i LOVE the animation. its so damn fluid, why cant all games be like this.

That looks awesome...I hope they sort out the hit damage...seems to take to long to take somebody down with both the pistol and the AK-47. Other than that it looks awesome and the animation system looks amazing. First day purchase for me. :D

KORN - What time is the "ledge shooting", can't find it.

Anyway, yeah the animation is great, reminds me of Lost Planet. Like both the running, jumping, crawling...etc. the animation is as smooth if not better than Lost Planet.

Anyway, I will for sure pick this up on day one :D

lol obviosly games did it before, but the way it works is very similiar and the weapon select screen looks identical. Graphically looks very well presented. Gameplay seems simple and easy to get into, if they can keep it exciting should be good.

Graphics look good, animations are almost as good as AC, but the gameplay looks very unfinished, shooting looks to be awkward, AI needs work, and did that bad guy just get a whole clip emptied in him from a machine gun and still coming running towards you? WTF!!

Too bad the transmission between different animations isn't that smooth.

looking good, but some of the combat still needs a little bit more of fine tuning. But they got they till November to polish it up. Other than that, everything else looked solid. Can't wait to play the game

definitely among the best graphics on offer ...i think the incredibly detailed and lush environment could have been put to better use - basically the same human enemies, same AI and repetitive flailing armed combat which can get old fast, the animations look promising however unlike gears you can clearly notice that pulling out cover is literally that (pulling) the character needs to pull away in the opposite direction and almost do a "U" motion to get out of cover - not intuitive!

looks like a cross between tomb raider and just cause

there's only so much you can do with the "pirate island" plot in terms of set pieces but the action will become boring after a while, games like halo spice things up dramatically with the brutes, grunts, elites and jackals etc, bioshock had a hard time remixing splicers, big daddies etc but games like these 'tend to' struggle with diversifying the action

PAX demo hands-on
Control problems and camera issues were two of the biggest complaints Andrew Yoon had when he played Uncharted at E3 and thankfully we can report that those problems have already largely been fixed. The camera felt smooth and intelligent and was never a hassle in combat or exploration. The control issues during combat appear to have also been fixed, with the targeting system getting a major overhaul and the cover system getting tightened up as well. Shooting guys in the head and running from pillar to pillar to avoid enemy fire seemed easy and intuitive. Anybody who's played a third-person shooter will be able to get into the action quickly.

Yeah the animations are all what i expect from Naughty Dog as they are one of the few games devs that really put alot of effort into that field. However I do agree that some of the transitions need a bit of work, especially in the hand to hand combat.

actually thats what i found to be the best, sort of what made it stand out to me. like the jumping animation blends seemlessly into the stumbling running animation, back into running, then into a cover animation. its all perfectly blended together. stunning. better then assassins creed imo. although both are really pushing animation to new highs. which is a good thing since i'd take lifelike animation over uber realistic graphic anyday...one of the reason im not too keen on halo 3, since the animation doest seem to have progressed at all.

Yes but now they have got these silky smooth segments the bits that don't blend that well stick out like a sore thumb.

What do you mean by Lifelike animation over uber realistic graphic?

My nitpick with this... and many other games, for the most part, where "bad guys" you come up against in a game all look like cookie cutter clones of one another. The "bad guys" in this game all looked alike to me in the stream I watched. Many games are guilty of this. Why not build some kind of random generated parameter for the bad guys. Don't make them all the same size, same outfit (unless its a uniform) etc.

Game looks very good by the way... I do see how one could be reminded of Gears of War.

On an interview with Game Head their CEO said their gameplay was inspired by Gears of War and Kill Switch.

Unlike CliffyB who didn't even give any credit to Kill Switch, the entire game mechanics in Gears of War are ripped from KS.

At least ND is honest! They said they were mixing genres up and they listed everything from Tomb Raider to Kill Switch, unlike some other developers...

oh and blim why do you keep uploading videos of old builds? It's like trying purposely to make the game look bad. This is the build from March 2007

Of course, I love that.
Tell that to SCEE who had only that build playable last week at the Game Convention.

I'd say it's one of the best looking games for this year. The animation helps a lot too.

I'm a bit afraid it will suffer from some linear and generic gameplay though. It combines Gears of War Cover and Prince of Persia/Tomb Raider motion. However it does do as good as the originals in their own style.

Cliffy also discussed the inspirations for Gears of War, which was originally designed as an extension of the Unreal franchise. In fact, many of the original concepts for Gears of War made it into Unreal Tournament 3. He uses the phrase "Resident Killswitch" to describe the title's inspirations from both Resident Evil and Killswitch.

..come on now.

This game does look pretty sweet though, and honestly.. not much like Gears of War. I mean if a cover mechanic is all it takes for people to make that connection they're not looking deep enough into this game, because it's much more than a third person shooter from what I can tell.

One thing that it constantly reminds me of (without the sci-fi spin) is Flashback. Not sure why--I guess it's just the platforming and the lush jungle environment.
