Video PC Xbox 360 PS3

The PS3 demo of Battlefield 3 was playable on Sony's booth and they let us film the whole co-op mission. You will see the passage which was shown at EA's conference but also what happens next until the final extraction. We apologize for the poor quality of the video, but the mission is set at night, which makes it difficult to film and emphasizes the screen reflections to top it all. The version presented is not final. I'd also like to thank one of the game demonstrators who volunteered to be my teammate and did not hesitate to take some of his time to retry the demo until we could finally complete it.

I'm sorry but this really fails to impress me. If i compare this to a nighttime mission in Crysis 2...C2 wins it.

It's the PS3 version that's why it looks like crap. We're at the point where consoles are far behind PC games in terms of graphics.

I think the PC version has set people expectations for the console version far too high. The game isnt going to push visuals on consoles. But it at least looks like it runs at a decent click, and visually looks a damn sight better the cod.

I like that the death animations are physics based.

With regards to the graphics, we have to remember that this is Battlefield we're looking at and that this kind of simplistic, close quarters environment is not what it excels at. The engine's built from the ground up to generate a complex, sprawling battlefield so it's no surprise that when it comes to these kinds of environments something like COD looks better.

How on earth can you make a judgement from a off-screen video? You really don't get a proper feel of the visuals. So let's at least wait until they release a direct-feed until we start making comparison.

Having said that, saying that the it doesn't compare to the PC version and falls short of Crysis 2 is hardly saying it's technically poor.

In most cases off-screen videos and screenshots actually usually make a game look more realistic because it adds an extra layer of complexity to the lighting, it's sort of like an analog post processing effect. It also tends to hide aliasing. Clearly in this situation the environment or screen settings were too dark for the camera as the end result was less than ideal but it still gives you a feel for the games visuals.

Looks good, Alot of the complaint about graphic... WHO CARES! Anyone who plays battlefield knows what makes it Battlefield, I dont care even if it looks like counter strike, as long as it keeps its core elements the same. Beside its the console version, what were you expecting? PC specs? It looks pretty amazing to me, the only complaint that I got is that is the destructibility atleast on par with previous, This feels more single path, compared to more open-ness like previous.

This isn't like the old days where the graphics in a game could significantly improve in the final stages of development. Contemporary top tier developers operate very efficiently and leverage the hardware they program for. The PS3/XBOX360 isn't going to all of a sudden increase in horsepower nor is the developer likely to make some kind of radical programming breakthrough. At most they might be able to increase efficiency by ~5% by cleaning up code or slightly improve the grfx by balancing asset resource allocation.

I dunno.. I'm hyped for the game buy co-op (and the PS3 version) both fail to really do it for me.

The console version of BC2 should have set peoples expectations accordingly.. Instead they're comparing it to Crysis 2.

I never seen Crysis 2 on consoles, well except the multiplayer beta... so I don't really know if it's that much better looking but I still think this looks good. Reminds me of Rainbow Six Vegas terrorist hunt missions.

tbh co-op games i want over the top.. i'd take spec ops over this anyday.

Be interesting to see how well this does on console off the back of people expecting the visual quality they've seen in the pc footage as theres an obvious difference in quality there beyond resolution....well from whats been shown of the ps3 version so far anyway

And those complaining that theres too much emphasis on visuals..ofcourse there is, its what got most of us on this hype train of bf in the first place.
