Levolution... revengeance... soon even gamers will need a gaming dictionary to understand all these "creatively invented" words.

What does Levolution even mean, considering the context it's trying to tell? Levitation, Level design...lemmings?

Yah blowing a dam and flooding a whole city. Fuckin' gimmick.

I wish they'd return to the little destructible mud huts from BC2. That was the best Battlefield ever.

Yes. Also Call of Duty Ghosts will be the best next gen FPS.

Looks nice. The big gamechanging events look scripted though, just like the antenna in Caspian Border.

Didn't Gears do something like this with sand/snow? Obviously this is a hell of a levolution, but not the first game to implement level-changing things...

Uncertain. I was out after Gears of War 1 (which was a lot of fun at the time).

The antenna crashes in Caspian Border as a timed event every round. All of the examples here are player activated events.

Hard to believe that big warship or the dam that collapses is player triggered in a direct sense. How is it player triggered? Is it by placing some C4 yourself or by reaching X-amount of tickets, by taking over checkpoint A for Y-amount of time? Still remains to be seen.

Surely, they will want to make this not so easily to abuse cause I can imagine a lot of kids going for those big game-changing events from the start and thus not making it more than a gimmick. And not really changing the game as you almost immediately start with a flooded city, a big ship crash,...

Well we know exactly how the event in Shangai is triggered. The others remain to be seen and I would presume they're all relatively unique. Although the dam is probably similar: you take out key support points.

I'm not sure how any of that is unbelievable. Although certainly unique to the genre. And I imagine there will be some rounds where these events are triggered super early or not at all.

Not the fact that there are some events that can be triggered by actions, I'm just very skeptical about the amount of influence one individual player will have. It would be very unbelievable to me at least if one player would be able to, on its own, take out a dam with C4, steer the big ship onto the beach,...

One player won't have enough high explosives to pull it off (thank god for the new kit designs). This is a squad game :)

Although I'm not sure how true that actually is. There are only four support pillars to take out in Shangai. It can't take much.

Hmm, not entirely true. The Caspian Border tower was full scripted, yes, and only happened at the end of the game and didn't really do anything to the gameplay. Everything you see here has a dynamic effect on gameplay. You can cause any of these events to happen when you wish them to, and they affect the game being played, so I'd call that dynamic rather than scripted. I've not seen anything like it in an online FPS before.

The more you think about it, the more I'm thinking that BF3 was DICE just getting a game out polished and playable enough using the new tech. Console limitations probably had a large part to play in how that game panned out. Now they don't have those restrictions, so the result will be this game, and I think this game will be the game BF3 was intended to be.
