The Gamescom showfloor just opened and as usual we start with a racing game: Forza Motorsport 4 and this first 720p 60fps video. Update 5: Added a part of Dan Greenawalt's presenation from earlier today.
The visual transition between this and the second game this gen is nothing short of stunning. At times my eye was tricked into believing that what I was looking at was an actual car driving around a track in the replay view. It really is remarkable what T10 have done with both the LOD and lighting models in this game. GT has just been knocked off pole position.
Everything about this game just looks absolutely incredible! You'd think the environments would take a hit when the car models look this good, but no, they look equally exceptional!
1:07 of that replay looks like real life, it just looks so natural!

Looks amazing. Too bad about the lobster claws holding the wheel, I can't look away, it looks really fake :(
You talking about the in-game hands? It looks fake because the hands are so static, but the hand positioning is correct as the BMW car has paddle shifters.
Yeah but it's the way the hands grab the wheel. It's like it's pinching it with the fingers. I don't know, it just looks really weird to me. Maybe it doesn't help if they're static as well.

GT? i stil think Dirt 3 is the best looking racing game :|
Not on my PC it don't. Granted it looks decent, but I can't put my finger on where it's going wrong. Probably the fact that it just looks dated on my hardware.
Just watched the latest replay, and everything looks incredible, but why, Turn 10, did you feel the need to put that awful looking smoke/dust behind the cars as they race along? It just sticks out like a sore thumb against everything else.
on the multi screen video steering wheel has lag like on stupid kinect. maybe its issue with every steering wheel ever made anyway. guess its good i always play on pads...
EDIT:
* it has the same tracks from FM3
* graphics suffers from mysterious blackness (actuall its the same poor shader used in FM3)
* car models are same FM3 quality
* same assists settings, they cant make game easier any more with rewind feature available without any pentalies.
guess everyone except me should forget about this game...

Its called input lag which is a problem that affects pretty much every flat panel HDTV and has nothing to do with the racing wheel or kinect.
Looks decent in many ways, but to knock GT5 from the perch, you would need x10 better lighting, no racing game touches GT5 in this area. And the feel of the cars. PS3 and PC is possible the best there is.

I'm sorry but Forza 4 has better lighting than GT5.
Geez, it took the Trolls a while to stain the thread... You guys are slacking!!
Game looks awesome. I am really diggin' the added feeling of weight the cars have now. Dying to play it. It also looks like there is a kind of sweet softness to some of the reflections that I hadn't noticed before...
