There is some...WEIRD stuff going on with the shadows in this video... Still impressive tho for such an old system and I'm sure the shadows will be fixed by launch

looks really impressive.. its not all that far behind the next gen racers.

And least the shadows aren't flickering like a mofo like they did in the last one

Amazing they were able to bump the resolution up again from GT5.

Wasn't GT5 1920x1080? What's the resolution in GT6?

Looks pretty much the same as GT5 which still looks pretty impressive so it's not exactly a bad thing! Lets just hope that GT6 actually runs at 60fps.

Nope, it was 1280x1080. I think GT6 is 1440x1080?

this is the big problem with current gen racers being pushed so far. it's made the first wave next gen racers look pretty underwhelming for something replacing 7 year old hardware. they look better, sure, but not by enough. it's why i'm most looking forward to NFS rivals. becasue it looks nice, but predominantly, it looks the most fun out of them all.

That's kinda expected though. Diminishing returns. The real differences will be shaders, lights, and small detail. The environments are where you see it most for these racers, especially since the poly counts are already so high on the cars. It's like the Auto Vista and Photo mode cars- they are just now while you are racing. Hell, didn't the Auto Vista cars have upwords of a million Polys?

Lighting as well isn't as cut and dry, as before they faked it so well via baking. Unless the devs do something to highlight the dynamic nature of their new, sophisticated lighting systems it will be difficult to notice.

Where The real differences are is in physics, IMO. Some of the destruction and stuff I've been seeing in some games gets my blood goin' again. Watching that billboard explode in The Division, or seeing the physics stuff they are doing in Ryse in real time makes me feel like a kid again :)

well I don't think there's much denying that forza 5 looks better than this, but I think with racers there's only so far you can take them visually. The noticeable step up is more on lighting, mirror reflections really, and track atmosphere..as the car models are already high quality at the end of this gen.

Hopefully as next gen goes along we'll start seeing enviroments play a bigger part... dynamic weather, track quality (such as wet/mud) that effects more than just cosmetics.

I doubt we'll ever see decent damage as that's more a licencing issue isn't it?

I do hope this has a more solid framerate than GT5 though

GT6 was always going to be on PS3. GT7 will probably release in time of Forza6

if only some people could understand you cannot simply copy and paste a game, think of it like this, (i know emulation is not legal well the bios part of it) emulating the PS2 required some pretty beefy PC spec's so how beefy would the PS4 have had to have been to emulate PS3 hardware given such a short time span, with any luck GT7 will be announced a short time after GT6 comes out and hope its got a 3 year development time, i like to think of it as a pint of guinness "good things come to those who wait".

The good news there is the cars are already modeled. We are at the point where these car models are essentially maxed out- The next step would be simulating the whole engine, and I'm not sure how practical that would be. Maybe GT will finally have decent environs on the PS4, lol. I am VERY interested to see what PD does with the new hardware....

Its UNBELIEVABLE that a current gen game (GT6) has so much better simulation mechanics than a next gen game(Forza 5)..........the handling in Forza 5 looks so fake......!!!!!
