Thanks for the images.

For a moment, I thought it was a gameplay trailer and my heart skipped a bit.

Just trying to confirm. Will this be a straight FPS or like Deus Ex a mixture of FPS and TP?

Damn, so did I. I wonder if they'll put out gameplay trailer this year though. As I understand the game still a while out. And they probably don't want to do a repeat of the Witcher 3 trailers.

I think it's first person, except for driving and cutscenes.

Looks great...Very interested to see how this looks on current gen consoles. Definitely looks a big step up from the Witcher 3. Fidelity wise I think TLoU2 impressed me more, but when you add in scale and world simulation, it is quite difficult to see how this will fare. Still RDR2, which revealed gameplay recently, look absolutely stunning and seems to run well. This looks a step up from that though, particularly in terms of rendering and geometry detail.

i'm gonna base it on them saying it's literally years away, them running the "live demo" on a i7 CPU and a GEFORCE GTX1080Ti...and doctored screenshots.

that demo the press were super excited by... the things they're releasing and claiming is legit...that shit ain't happening on current gen consoles. they might release some shitty looking version on PS4/xbone, but i doubt even that. why would they sacrifice their vision when it's highly likely there will be 2 way more proficient consoles on the market to run it on?

i just don't see it happening. but i guess we'll find out in a couple years.

I see the lefties of Resetera are in a rage and are threatening to boycott this game because someone at CD Projekt RED made a transgender joke.

They just want to punish a whole team just because of a rude person...

Way to throw the baby with the bath water...

I'm sure there are dipshits in every team of every cultural/media project.
Real world realities are just lost on them(kneejerk reactors) and they worship and hate products. They are right to expect apologies tho...
Internet reactions tend to only make things worse.

Somehow i'm not surprised to hear that :D. They should make a list of all the people who's gonna boycott the different games so that they don't forget about boycotting a game when it's released (often years later). It really sucks when you're boycotting something, and down the line you end up buying a product because you forgot you were boycotting it. I hate it when that happens.

On a more serious note, didn't they say after E3 they were gonna show the game at Gamescom (in one way or another)?

i'm guessing they only want to show when they're certain there's not going to be some downgrade like what happened with the witcher 3.

I'm sure you're right. Some game mechanics can also be removed or changed if they don't work so better not let people get too attached to them.

Bioshock Infinite never felt quite right because of that 15 min gameplay.
I wish they never showed it to begin with.

While, yeah this does look almost too good for a console, I think it'll still make it to current systems. 1) I never would have thought something as amazing looking as TLOU2 would be possible on PS4, but here we are. And I don't feel this is THAT much more advanced looking than that game. 2) I highly doubt that Microsoft would have allowed the in engine trailer to be shown at their conference if it weren't gonna make it to current hardware. They would NEVER allow a third party multiplatform title be the first evidence of new hardware being in the works. They'd want to be in full control of us seeing whatever the first glimpses will be of the next gen of games. It's highly possible (hell, maybe PROBABLE) that current consoles will see a lessened version of this, but I think it'll definitely see release on current hardware.

EDIT: Oh, also if you head to the Cyberpunk 2077 website, it totally has PS4 and Xbox One logos at the bottom of the page.

Oh, I have no doubt they currently INTEND to release on current hardware. I just don't think they ultimately will. There is a chasm of difference between the fidelity they're showing here...in a massive open world no less, then what last of us 2 is doing on a comparatively much smaller scale.

As for MS showing off a game that's wasn't going to ever be on current hardware. We're talking about MS here. They were at such a huge disadvantage regarding games last year I have no doubt in my mind they'd show a logo of a game 5 years away just to pad out their perceived offerings. As I say. The original xbox (lowest common denominator) might get some crummy looking 720p version of cyberpunk or something in 2-3 years time, but considering that isn't the vision of the future the press were so enamoured by this E3 I'm not even sure it counts.

They officially anounced it for this gen. This means it's what they target and where they already put a lot of money in. Eye candy can be scaled back. No need for a whole gen for this game.

if that were the case why were they demoing the game behind closed doors on hardware beyond any of the current gen systems? i mean, this isn't even like target development hardware, they went way beyond what current consoles have both CPU and GPU wise.

also these the people who recently said the PS4 version will "look as good" as the demo that was shown behind closed doors, despite looking better than anything else out there on the system (based on media reports) and running on vastly superior hardware. not to mention the visual downgrade we witnessed with the witcher 3...even on PC...i just find the whole thing hard to believe. add onto that the game, by their own words, being literally years away...it just seems silly to release it on old hardware when they're clearly aiming to impress visually with this title. but as i say, maybe we will get some pared back version that doesn't have the same impact that it had with the press during E3?

i definitely think at the very least we're seeing a cross gen title. in which case i'll wait for the PS5 version purely because i want to see it as it was meant to be seen, and how it was initially shown behind closed doors.

It's still not optimised at this point so it make sense that they only show it on a beast PC as they always do...

Cross gen yes but skipping on PS4 and XB1 install base? That would be the dumbest decision. And they confirmed PS4 and XB1.

First of all. Have you even seen the standard we have today in terms of real gameplay visuals? On consoles as well as on PC. Seriously. Being a high-end PC gamer I run everything maxed out and just to make a point I have to say that Horizon for example is perhaps still one of the (if not the) best looking games I've ever seen. That's just one game out of several exclusives that blows most games out of the water on all platforms.

While these shots look fantastic there's really nothing in them that isn't plausible on for example a PS4 Pro. Thanks to temporal aa solutions the image quality isn't an issue. The level of detail we've already seen and the fidelity as a whole as well. It's all about effectively adjusting what the player sees based on distances like other open world or semi open world games are doing. Also. Most games are shown behind closed doors at first and there's another reason for that other than the technical aspects. Mechanics. You don't want others copying and/or stealing new ideas before you've released your own.
