The concept is great but there is a problem. A HUGE problem. 99% of all users don't know level design for shit and create completely worthles levels that nobody would ever want to play. The 1% taht are left are unfortunately gamers and as such lack any sort of imagination and will just make super mario, metal gear and halo levels. At least that's how experienced my time with LBP1 :P

Also i never felt that the platforming was especially tight in LBP, which kind of made it a bit less fun to play than it should ahve been (i'm referecing mainly the maps by real designers packed on the disc here).

@megido

Its a sequal, its here to fix things.

And i cant really blame LBP planet for its online user base, seriously its like saying halo is crap because of its childish majority players... not the games fault its user base suck ass or are wankers.

You are right, as a tool and when playing the stages on the disc it's not diminished even in the slightest by the userbase being tosspots. On the flipside the experience overall will take a hit since so much of the experience is based on the user created content, so your argument isn't really valid.

Let me take another example. DotA is great fun but playing it online is fucking awful, because as soon as you die once the retard qhoire start insulting you and whining like little bitches and quitting and so forth. That makes it very hard to enjoy the game unless you are playing with only friends, adn i don't think i have to tell you that pulling together 12 people for a game can be quite difficult.

I see your point, trying to raid with 24 idiots on wow...

Yeha i definatly get your point..

But there is good levels out there now, my kids are obsessed with thte game and i watch some of the levels they play online and there really good, still some vomit ones out there, but people seem to be getting the hang of it now lol

Hopefully now people are more accustomed to how it works they will get to grips with the sequal a lot faster...i hope.

I think the problem is not that people don't understand the tools as much as they don't understand what makes a level fun to play. There's tons of idiots out there that think they could make the most awesome game ever but have no concept of what it actually takes to make even a basic level. With no understanding of how to design a level, mastery of the tools won't help one bit :P

Well, I've seen beautiful and superbly done levels. Just use the right search filters and you'll see enough wonderful levels.

Between the now almost 3 million levels there are only hundreds of these beauties, I have to agree on that. The rest are all crappy game 'remakes'.
