Unless Bioware gives you no choice and instead gives a pre-rendered, two hour movie that recaps Mass Effect.
So this is a great option for me to play it properly with a controller just the way I like it.
The thing is that Bioware made a bad misstake by not taking ME1 as well, as a trilogy it is important, and gameplay wise a bit, especially when you can transfer your character to ME2.
From my point of view, I am happy I had a 360 when ME1 came out, so I experienced it :)
From the little of ME2 I played, I prefer it more when it comes to gameplay. better combat and polishness and classes with nice abilities.

ideally, the whole first game would be included, but i doubt it'll happen. an interactive "recap" video could be good, but again, unlikely. some people jumped straight into the second game on the 360 without playing the first, and i think that's going to be the one and only option for PS3 owners. the additional content will probably be all the DLC that is out and is to come out. maybe a few "exclusive" ones too.
unless they're going to surprise everyone and litterally say the "addtional hours of content" is in fact the entire first game...lol. what else would take till fall 2011, unless contracts are in place with Ms or something?
The more important part of this announcement is that ME3 will likely be multiplatform as well. Its great news for PS3 owners because its an outstanding series.
2 isn't as good without playing 1, period. It's still a great game mind you, but the fact remains the same.
January 2011 sounds like a contract situation.
And now in multi game? the quality down for need divide the team of developers?
I only wait the same of all titles multi, the double of sales in Xbox 360 vs PS 3. Bioware need really it sales?
I boubt.

ME1 is a great game, and IMO ME2 is even better. A quick recap of the main plot of ME1 is all they really need, and they could always play ME1 on 360 or PC. The important thing is having it go multiplatform now so ME3 can be available for all platforms from the start.
MS are so stupid investing and marketing these IP's that they don't actually own. They establish them to be the huge franchises they are today yet leave it open for their competitors to reap the rewards. I dont understand how that can make good business sense.
now, losing exclusives before they are released, as has been the case with some PS3 games (DMC4, FFXIII like mentioned above) then it matters.
Choosing courses in a story still isn't substantial enough even in the Mass Effect games. It'd either take too much time for a dev or they're too afraid to take the risk I think.
Me2 was still pretty damn fun so this is certainly good news for people who only have the PS3 :)
Of course, Bioware is probably too lazy to do this (still waiting for a ME2 PC core affinity patch) and will port it like for like while including a crappy recap video.
