Developer Diary PC Xbox 360 PS3

In this new 1080p developer diary, the guys at Gearbox Software focus on the importance of suspense in Aliens: Colonial Marines, which is no wonder considering how important it is in the movies.

yeah all those points flying around the screen and kill streak notifications really add to the suspense and terror!

Cant say i'm feeling this one at all.. i'd rather a slower paced Alien game that actually does build on tension through use of shadows and sounds rather than poorly voice over set pieces. If i have to have a crew with me throughout the game then it would have been interesting to see a brother in arms model to add some tactics to it.

They decided to go into "badass" kind of gameplay, abandon atmosphere and everything important in aliens universe. Wont bother getting this.

Thought it looked shit when they showed it at last years E3 and nothing has changed my mind from it. They really do think they are creating something special, don't they, going by the amount of development videos they are so keen to show us. This game will be polluted with ridiculous grandiose cut scenes a'la COD, tripe and cheesy voice acting that destroys the sense of tension and the fact that your life is under threat, and a few QTE's just thrown in there for the fuck of it, because, well, it's the trend.

Aliens by Cameron was almost entirely an action flick. This is a sequel to it.

Yea, it's kind of shame how this game went. I remember when I first read about it, it was said to be a squad based tactical shooter, which would have been pretty neat in this universe.

I'll probably get this when it's in the bargain bin.

Yes, but it still had tension and the marines in that panicked and swore themselves blind at times out of fear. With this, there is no such feeling that the marines are actually shitting themselves. The acting is terrible and full of cheese. It's Aliens PG edition.

I agree. I still think the Aliens vs Predator game that came out in 1999(?) was awesome, and probably nothing will ever top that. One of the few games ever to scare me.

This looks like a dumb, more of the same shooter without much of what makes Aliens special. RPG style kill points, combos? Seriously?
