Video PC Xbox 360 PS3

We've got to see and film a presentation of The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings yesterday. The game is shaping up very nicely, even though the console versions are so far nowhere to be seen, so we'll keep an eye on that one. The last part is by far the nicest looking of all.

I don't know if i'd call it more mature but it's definitely more towards pulp than the usual crappy high-fantasy. Which i love. High fantasy can f*** right off imo. Tolkien my ass, Robert E. Howard is the go to guy.

Yup, the mature theme handled very well.
I would pick this over DA any day. I still don't like his hair, though, but whatever.
The book was awesome in original language, the translation made it kinda... weaker.

well atleast nobodys screaming "dumbed down for consoles" yet.

I hope it does find its way to the consoles..the fact that they're so quiet on it makes me think we wont be seeing that version for quite a while.

It wont take much longer than the PC Version. A German Console Magazine (Gamepro) Makes a Preview of it and they only do this if they know its coming for Consoles (Xbox 360, PS3) they have no Release Date yet but even the PC has none.

I'm dead serious. Tolkien crafted a very detailed and interesting world, then filled it with bunch of boring pillocks and a very bland story while Howard focuses on making colorful characters with lots of personality and great tempo through the stories. Sure, it's a matter of taste and i prefer the later, much more personal and intimate experience. Even if you prefer the tolkien approach to storytelling i think there are a lot more compelling epics to be found, Frank Herbert's Dune for one.

Well, i think few will argue that the Witcher had a bit of a overly convoluted interface. Lots of the stuff could be done smarter and simpler without losing any depth, and that seems to be the case here.

Well I categorically disagree. You don't even have to dig that deep to find that Tolkien's characters are deep and incredibly well thought out, and the story is far from bland. He doesn't just create a detailed world; he creates one that's meaningful and thus worth saving. I don't find that any of Howard's tales that I've read even remotely match up to Tolkien's, nor do I find them particularly oustanding in their own right.

And Dune is more science fiction than pure fantasy, but I still wouldn't put it in the same bracket as The Lord of the Rings.

No, that place is reserved for Arkham City...in my book :). I am not a PC gamer, so if this one doesn't come to consoles (and in a good way) it can never be my GOTY 2011.
