PlayStation 4 exclusive title The Order: 1886 has also a new trailer for Gamescom so please your eyes by watching it as it introduces Nikola Tesla. Update: screenshots added.
Actually made me interested in the game. I haven't been until just now.
Still doesn't say much, but damn this looks good. Such an amazing time to be a gamer.
Graphically still the most promising of the upcoming games on a new consoles. The amount of atmosphere is a real killer. Still a bit worried about the gameplay though.
All this shooting human targets seems pretty mundane, considering this is supposed to be a paranormal shooter, is it not?
Besides, the gameplay itself is very standardized. Watching this I feel as if I had already played the same game before.

There one part of shooting the werewolf thing in this trailer.

In fact I do say the same thing about most FPSs and TPSs.
However, I only comment on it on the internet if I sense a large number of people being fooled or presented with a false premise (which seems to be the case here).
Fittingly you've named two of the most repetitive video-game franchises in existence (COD and AC) which I abhor as well and criticize at many opportunities - in as relevant a way as I can.
And it's true again that many games are very similiar, however I've noticed a strong sense of fundamental stagnation concerning vg mechanics in recent years, which is evidently much more prevalent in some genres (especially those concerning shooting segments, i.e. most) than in others.
Concerning FC4: I sadly doubt it...
Looks amazing graphically and a real neat story involving one of the more unique people in history, Mr. Nikola Tesla. Looks like a story heavy 3rd person shooter with unique weapons... I'm down w/ that concept.
By far The Order 1886 and Metal Gear Solid V TPP are my Most Anticipated games of 2015! Everything I've seen of this game impresses the hell out of me.

I'm not playing a lot of video-games these days because I feel (like you said) that they've lost their inspiration and ingenuity.
The kind of games I do play in general are adventure, action and shooter games - as well as fun multiplayer games (like Gang Beasts). I've grown up with TLoZ so I'm a sucker for adventure games with immersive combat and a good story.
Unfortunately the Zelda franchise has become very stale over the years as have others that I enjoyed a lot in their primal versions (e.g. Gears of War, Metroid, Arkham Asylum, Demon's Souls).
I like to play games that feel very new to me and give me something that I've never experienced in my life before - what I hate is repetitiveness!
The games I enjoyed most in recent years were definitely Dark Souls I and Journey by far.
Right now I'm rooting for Bloodborne, but other than that there's not a lot catching my interest in the slightest.
Looks good, But I'm not a fan of the big black borders top and bottom. I suspect this was needed to render the graphics the quality that they are. The developers will obviously say this is to give it a more cinematic feel. The same reason they said it wouldn't be 60fps.

I disagree. The performance gains are just an incentive. They were always trying to make their game look closer to an actual movie. Have they realized their ambition? We will find out soon enough.

You could say the same thing about every FPS OR TPS.
COD is the same game everytime in a slightly updated skin, even the newest one not released yet is. Killstreaks, blah blah blah.
Assasins Creed is the same game over and over again. I don't play it anymore. Boring.
I'd give this game a chance because of the darker side, and I enjoy Uncharted TPS style.
In reality we have played all games over and over again. Just some newer mechanics and visual upgrades.
Farcry 4 looks like it could be fun.

I love the uncharted games, probably because I always loved Indiana Jones films and really enjoyed TR1/2/3 on PS1.
But I do agree games become stagnant in alot of genres.
As for FPS. I thought the Destiny beta was decent, and I still enjoy Battlefield 4 considering the bugs in the game.
I'll give this a try and also bloodborne.
I was also going to say, films as well have no soul anymore. Too much CG and not enough quality acting. Also the world has gone super hero mad,lol
