Well this will be day one for me if I can afford it along with the many other games I want. I can't help but think this looks like Uncharted 2, which isn't a bad thing since this series will always look good. I think it will be beat by a couple of other games this year in regards to visuals but it will be no less of a game because of that. ND is a very talented dev.

This is where some serious self control and prioritization comes in. Too many great games, too little money/time.

Top of my list this fall is Gears of War 3, Uncharted 3, Skyrim, Halo: CEA, and Rage. Not that I do not want a ton of other games (see the list below), just that these five take priority over all others. And five games in a three month period, is very doable. Mathematically, it works out to something like a new game every 18 days. I can swing that.

Not saying you have to go after the same five games as myself. Just saying to plan ahead. By this point in time, all the release dates for the fall are locked in stone. So pick a handful of them that mean the most to you, and make those a priority. And as for the rest of the games not on your autumn priority shopping list, well that is what sales and "targets of opportunities" are for.

THE LIST BELOW (in order of release date)
Dead Island
Driver: San Francisco
X-Men: Destiny
Resistance 3
Dark Souls
Ace Combat: Assault Horizon
Forza Motorsport 4
Batman: Arkham City
Lord of the Rings: War in the North
Modern Warfare 3
Saints Row: The Third
Sonic Generations

Have I lost touch with the modern video game generation if the only games that interest me out of that list are Sonic Generations and Batman? Am I really that old?

Uncharted remains the king of action adventure games.
imho me Uncharted is not an actionadventure, but a 3rd-person-shooter (and, next to Gears, one of the best)

to be an actionadventure it lacks depth and is too linear for me

Man. Too much to buy. I hope my wife doesn't divorce me, lol. I need Battlefield 3, this (U3), Gears, Forza 4, Skyrim, and Batman. Those being the priorities. I'd really like to get Dark Souls too. This is definitely one of those times where having so many viable platforms (PC, 360, PS3)is a hinderance....

I don´t want to call out names, but how can this be a rental?I rent games, if they are not worth full price. Renting this game is an insult to all gamers. This comes from a Gearhead.

Maybe because the story will be short, so fit for a rental? Does everyone have to be that super hyped over this simple action game?

Normally rental material for me means I'm not expecting much, but it also applies to games that can be completed in sub-12 hours or thereabouts. As great as the UC series is, I think it's practical to rent it.

lol that is what Jack Tretton also said. One thing you have to admit these guys are best in making great action adventure game. Gaming will get saturated with online shooters. They are pushing for MP but SP is going to damn good as well.

I have no doubt in my mind this will be my GOTY. The MP beta was the most fun i've had online for a LONG time. Seems like it has a lot of staying power too. Definatly my online game of choice this fall, nothing else seems to be coming close to it atm. Split screen online too, yipee.

Single player is what i'm lookimg forward to most tho. No franchine is as polished as uncharted. It's a genuine gaming event for me. This is definate media blackout for me tho. Seen too much as it is.

Fix the stupid crap that is bulletsponge and I may consider this game.

Looks great in cutscenes though, love the middle astern Drake outfit and the setting (The Mummy but modern, unfortunetly).
I know the SP will be one hell of a ride but meh.

Yep. It is going to be awesome and probably win most awards as well. Uncharted is the best series this gen. I think this might be last game of this series and I hope they ho out on a high. Uncharted2 was so good. It will be amazing if they can do it again.

I think this video was already shown to some sites behind closed doors at E3. The trailer already has this gameplay footage.

Mentioning "target of opportunity" Saints Row: The Third and Batman: Arkham City, just moved onto my priority list. Found a sweet pre-order deal where I can net both games for $35 each, plus get a coupon code on each pre-order for another, currently released game (my choice) for free, so long as I pick up the currently released game before the end of the promotional period. That's basically four games (two which aren't even out yet) for $70 total. That's basically $17.50 per game. Since the promo period does not end for a few weeks, going to see if I can pick up a couple of new release games as my two free games. I'm thinking Deus Ex: Human Revolution, and possibly Dead Island.

As for Uncharted 3, definitely a day one purchase - not a rental. I've been a fan of the series since the very first, and have never once felt any game in the series rated so low as a rental. Don't get me wrong, I understand if finances is an issue, or priority is an issue - shit these days, no one can afford to be blasé about money, and I frequently champion the idea of using a Gamefly account to augment the gaming habit. So if it's money, or priorities, I feel you. At the same time, I love this series so much. In so many respects, Uncharted represents the epitome of what gaming can be. And while true I wish the puzzles were deeper (not quite as deep as Tomb Raider Underworld, but in the general ball park) and for that matter, more of them. But that one quibble aside, this series is the ultimate, as it does everything else to nigh perfection. And more than any other, this is the series that I most look forward to seeing new iterations to.

I have no doubt the game will be a 10, but it can still be a 10 and be a rental.

I personally feel that a lot of linear, cinematic games are absolutely rentals regardless of quality. I rarely feel the need to replay games that don't offer anything else besides increased difficulty on subsequent playthroughs. Couple that with wanting to skip through the cinematic gameplay portions that are in there to look awesome while offering very little challenge, and it becomes clear that renting is the only way to go.

It's not a knock to only want to rent a game that is very clearly designed to offer a directed, exhilirating, cinematic experience.

Though I'm sure there are some people who will say U3 is a rental in an attempt at being derogatory. Nuts to them.
