nice rental for a weekend
Top of my list this fall is Gears of War 3, Uncharted 3, Skyrim, Halo: CEA, and Rage. Not that I do not want a ton of other games (see the list below), just that these five take priority over all others. And five games in a three month period, is very doable. Mathematically, it works out to something like a new game every 18 days. I can swing that.
Not saying you have to go after the same five games as myself. Just saying to plan ahead. By this point in time, all the release dates for the fall are locked in stone. So pick a handful of them that mean the most to you, and make those a priority. And as for the rest of the games not on your autumn priority shopping list, well that is what sales and "targets of opportunities" are for.
THE LIST BELOW (in order of release date)
Dead Island
Driver: San Francisco
X-Men: Destiny
Resistance 3
Dark Souls
Ace Combat: Assault Horizon
Forza Motorsport 4
Batman: Arkham City
Lord of the Rings: War in the North
Modern Warfare 3
Saints Row: The Third
Sonic Generations
to be an actionadventure it lacks depth and is too linear for me
nice rental for a weekend
Probably a 8 hour affair with a mediocre MP.
Single player is what i'm lookimg forward to most tho. No franchine is as polished as uncharted. It's a genuine gaming event for me. This is definate media blackout for me tho. Seen too much as it is.
Looks great in cutscenes though, love the middle astern Drake outfit and the setting (The Mummy but modern, unfortunetly).
I know the SP will be one hell of a ride but meh.
I also enjoyed the multiplayer beta a lot. Looking forward to it

I think this video was already shown to some sites behind closed doors at E3. The trailer already has this gameplay footage.

As for Uncharted 3, definitely a day one purchase - not a rental. I've been a fan of the series since the very first, and have never once felt any game in the series rated so low as a rental. Don't get me wrong, I understand if finances is an issue, or priority is an issue - shit these days, no one can afford to be blasé about money, and I frequently champion the idea of using a Gamefly account to augment the gaming habit. So if it's money, or priorities, I feel you. At the same time, I love this series so much. In so many respects, Uncharted represents the epitome of what gaming can be. And while true I wish the puzzles were deeper (not quite as deep as Tomb Raider Underworld, but in the general ball park) and for that matter, more of them. But that one quibble aside, this series is the ultimate, as it does everything else to nigh perfection. And more than any other, this is the series that I most look forward to seeing new iterations to.
I personally feel that a lot of linear, cinematic games are absolutely rentals regardless of quality. I rarely feel the need to replay games that don't offer anything else besides increased difficulty on subsequent playthroughs. Couple that with wanting to skip through the cinematic gameplay portions that are in there to look awesome while offering very little challenge, and it becomes clear that renting is the only way to go.
It's not a knock to only want to rent a game that is very clearly designed to offer a directed, exhilirating, cinematic experience.
Though I'm sure there are some people who will say U3 is a rental in an attempt at being derogatory. Nuts to them.
