That must be a very very early version theres no mud, tracks in the mud, dirt on the vehicle and it looks slow

I thought we have a gravitation of 9,81 N on earth? Just look how the cars "fly" around. Nice environments - but the gameplay looks to slow and much to lazy.

You guys notice all the flaws but blind to the fact of a very important note on the top left: Pre-Alpha Demo.

I think it's coming along nicely.

Looks pretty bad to me. I'm surprised how poor most artists are at capturing the way a rock looks, or the way water looks. The trees and rocks and just about everything just don't look right. It's a whole bunch of bad artistic decisions. Beyond that the racing still looks slow, the camera still looks bad, and the framerate looks bad too.

Just doesn't look good to me at all. :/

looks very good and I see they use AA now - it looks very jaggy free ingame (although the pics earlier had much aliasing, but they might be from an even earlier version)

@ miketuck3r )

in the upper left corner it says "Pre-Alpha Demo - 40% complete"

Looking very nice indeed. Don't like the setting though and the gameplay seems to suck as much ass as the first one. Perhaps they can best the first installment with some...well...features and stuff.

Oh, and not have a 3 second loading time when scrolling between the vehicles when selecting one before the race.

/rant.

that's why normaly we only get trailers of pre-alpha versions and not gameplay - at this stage there still is a lot of work to do, but there also is quite some time

It does look floaty and wonky, but it's really difficult to sense things like that without playing it first hand. I love the first and Evolution have been consistently great in the past aswell so I'll just trust them to deliver.

Setting isn't as instantly gratifying as the hard dusty rocks of the first game however, but as I said in the previous thread - I'd be bummed if it didn't go new places.

The funny thing is they can call it whatever they want. 'pre-alpha' footage of COD4 looked exactly the same, 'pre-alpha' footage of Crysis actually had more effects than the retail game ended up having. Used to be that part of the definition of 'pre-alpha' was the media never even got to see it.

I think its looking good. But could still use a little more work, which of course, this game is still a little ways off.

Exactly. Pre-alpha is where they just cover it in alsorts of effects to make it look pretty, then try to cut down effects to make it perform better.

visually the game looks a hell of a lot better then the first. the only thing a little weird is the super low gravity. i mean. thats just crappy. im sure it's be more like the first in terms of that tho come release. this and the killzone 2 footage have got me seriously psyched about the up-coming ps3 games.

Visually looks ok for the most part, but damn are those physics awful, the gameplay looks boring. I don't understand what made the first one so "great", and the same can be said about this one.

I laugh at the people who are trying to convince themselves that this looks bad in any way. Aside from the lack of some effects (which is a given since this is not the finished product, just try to remember how Motorstorm 1's graphics improved from the PS2.5 graphics to one of the best launch game graphics), the game already looks much better than Motorstorm 1 in many ways. The car models are much more detailed, there's more colour, the sunset with all the shadowing & stuff looks even more awesome than it did in the first game, and all this in a pre-alpha build. So what if Crysis' alpha build was better looking than the end product (don't know if that's true, someone else said it in one of the posts), most PS3 games have just improved over time, oftentimes the improvements being really noticeable.

And another LOL for people whining about the physics. Motorstorm is supposed to be a fun arcade off-road racer. They'll definitely tune the physics more so that a monster truck doesn't bump off 20 feet up into the air from some small bump on the road like in this vid, but otherwise there's nothing really wrong with it. It's a little airy, but that's the way the devs want it to be. One of the most important things in Motorstorm, which anyone who has actually played Motorstorm 1 properly should know, is to learn to use jumps to your advantage the best you can. Go into a ramp in the wrong angle and it will cost you. Maybe that's not everyone's cup of tea, but if that's the case then go play Richard Burns Rally or some other rally simulator while the ones who like this kind of not-so-serious off-road racing will enjoy Motorstorm.

i totally agree with you buddy, but the internet is a cesspool of fanboys and people who just want to complain. the first thing i noticed was the pre-alpha sign. and people wonder why some companies like SE, etc wont show footage until its almost done. because you have to put up with ridiculous people like few who posted above me. i think everyone should go the way of Square Enix.
