Xbox 360

Surprise! Microsoft released the second Gears of War 2 Viddoc already, and this time it's all about the game's weapons.

man, i was digging that video untill dom said "running away wont help, i'll just shoot you in your asses" cheesy or what. game looks pretty good tho. but with dialogue like that i do have doubt about this story which apparently has the ability to make you cry.

Lol, I wouldn't take much notice of that kind of PR nonsense. If you've played the first one without the fanboy goggles you know the story and characters will be as cheesy and forgetable as they come.

That said, I don't think a deep/complex story would make the game all that better. It's just a bit of glue to keep things together and that's fine by me. I don't always need whole books worth of character/universe data to keep me entertained ala Mass Effect. Sometimes I just want to kick ass, watch some SHORT cheesy, but cool, cutscenes and get right back to the action.

Not making up excuses for the game's shortcomings, it's just the way I see it.

im a storyline fanboy tho, and if games have non or very little i tend to drift in and out of caring about the game. its the reason i wasnt a fan of the first...i didnt care about what was going on, the characters, why they where going to the places they where going or anything. and i personally need that. an engaging storyline is almost a requirement for me otherwise your just killing things for the sake of killing things, and thats just no fun to me.

Chainsaw,flamethrower,gatlinggun,...who needs a story .

It's like hollywood , you get a lot of explosions, nice special effects , a boob or three and it's called a blockbuster .Cheesy ... YES ; nice to watch ... YES .
So GoW2 will be nice 2 play nothing more nothing less .

And YES i'm HYPED : )

Something about GoW that just doesn't interest me. I played the first one and it was fun till I completed it, then I never touched it again. This one will be the same. Just doesn't feel like you're shooting something, it's very rare for me to get that feeling in a shooter. HL2 was one of the only ones where I do, every shot an enemy takes seems to affect them or something, hard to put into words.

Visually it looks very nice, though I'm still not a UE3 fan.

Though there's no doubt this game is very important for MS and I hope everyone who enjoyed the previous game (and I guess multiplayer was a big part of that) enjoys this one :)

Errr, what? The story is the main focus of Gears 2. The plot itself will be nothing special, but the way it is portrayed will be bloody epic (no pun intended). Seriously though, I guarantee it'll have a great story.

I can't wait to kick some Locust ass this November!

You don't have to read about it "10 times a day.." You don't have to read about it at all actually. Just don't click on any of the threads about it. Problem solved.

Multiplayer was the best thing about GoW and if you haven't noticed it is still in the top 5 most played xbox live games(according to ign). Gears SP was entertaining, but MP made the game. Don't expect GOW 2 to have a storyline that blows you away, but i'm sure it will definetly be a improvement.

As for GOTY, I think it will come down to GoW 2 and Fallout 3 (MP vs SP). Kinda hard to pick one.

Dude, I think I know what you're talking about. In GoW, when the bullets are hitting the body of a locust, that locust will remain indifferent and just keep going about its business up until the moment it finally falls down dead. I think bullets should actually cause that locust to shake uncontrollably as the rounds are IMPACTING it's body. Instead, what you have in GoW are blood splatter animations that look very external, that is to say they appear as if they are happening a couple feet in FRONT of the locust. In Halo 2, it felt more like the bullets were actually impacting enemy bodies because when you shot the enemy, let's say as an example an elite, you saw that elite scowl in pain when he was hit by your bullets. Also, as your rounds impacted the elite's body, you caused that elite to be physically unable to fire back at you with his weapon. You felt like your bullets were truly impacting it's body because you actually saw their shields break and sometimes as a result, you even caused the elite to lose it's footing and fall to one knee. Those visual and aural cues are extremely important in a first person shooter because they reward your mind with the "cause and effect" relationship it's expecting.

But hey, hope you like it :)
