Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Future Soldier multiplayer beta started yesterday and if you want to get the best out of it you might want to check these 2 tutorial videos about the game maps, modes, classes and equipment.
I'm sure it has something to do with spending time with actual operators in the field, to get the games as authentic as possible. Like being an actor studying for a role; you walk like'em, talk like'em, dress like'em, even smell like'em to get inside their heads a bit more, and then translate what you gained from the experience into gameplay so the games act like'em as much as possible, despite creative liberties added into the game to make it fun. The next best thing would probably be operators coming off active duty and learning how to develop games. Something I am sure more than a few creative consultants on military games are doing these days.
BTW, the beta is proving to be rather fun. Being more old school than I probably should be, I was not really interested in non-coop multiplayer (of any game outside of GTA4, and RDR), but since I had purchased Splinter Cell: Conviction ages ago, Ubisoft emailed me a beta code, and I decided to put it to use despite myself. In these days of Call of Duty everything, and the industry just watering down the multiplayer experience in general, I had forgotten just how much I used to love tactical multiplayer. A couple of matches into the beta, and I was well and truly hooked. I handed out my extra beta codes to a couple of friends, so we could get a proper, working squad together (communication is key), and before two long, it was just like old times again. Man, it felt good. I don't think that I have had this much fun with multiplayer since . . . well, it's been awhile. I think the last time I actually had this much fun with multiplayer, was Rainbow Six Vegas.
Ghost Recon may not look pretty by today's standards, but it sure is a lot of fun. For the multiplayer alone, I'm getting this day one. Now I just have to decide whether I want to pick it up on Xbox and get it ASAP, or wait a few weeks and pick it up on PC to get the better version.
Played the beta, expected it to be alot of fun as the videos was looking great, I am not feeling it.
Weapon factions is poor choice, game is a x-ray vision spam with cameras, UAVs and the detection grenades, frag spams that is way too powerful with a huge hit radius.
Gunplay is very unbalanced and crap doesnt feel good when bullet spread is too wide and crosshair is too huge, everyone is spamming that ADS that acts like laser precision shots as soon as you customize the recoil to be reduced.
Too much cover camping, ARs range is way too long and get a headshot even, and hit detection is pure shit when you empty a clip into someone they dont die but they shoot you later and you die with a few shots, right :/
The ONLY thing I thought was good with it is the sprint animation, animation overal, cover-to-cover sprint feature was awesome and the weapon customization. Thats about it, nothing else said "buy me" as I expected since I was REALLY hyped and love the look of it since they revealed.
Anyways, cancelled my pre-order since I knew that the beta was a buy or not buy decision, if I didnt get into the beta I would have bought it blindly based on videos but I am glad I could play the beta and see for what it is.
Cancelled a pre order because of a beta lol, You know Beta builds a months old?
A beta is not a demo, i have seen hundreds of people say they wont buy various games because of the beta, Todays gamers are not the brightest. Maybe beta's should of been kept on PC as that community know what they are about.
Well the game wont go anywhere after the beta and the copies wont run out.
But based on beta, yes, I wont buy it. For a game to be in development so many years and so many times delayed, I doubt its gonna be an overhaul to retail. If anything it will have alot of after release patches.
Besides, I played the beta for Uncharted 3, both of the 2 times and they didnt do much to change it for the retail to satistfy my needs. Bulletsponge, its still there.
If I dont like what I am experiencing then why should I still buy the full game.
If I saw Ubi changing the gunplay, weapon balancing, ADS is practically laserblasters...etc. for retail or patch, then maybe I will consider getting it.
But for now, I wont buy it as I originally planned.

Couldnt be further from the truth tbh. Beta's are more like demo's now then they have ever been. They're Made avaliable far too close to the games release to make any relevant or meaningfull changes. They're used as server stress tests now, nothing more. Surprised people havnt twigged onto that fact? I guess you're right, todays gamers really arnt the brightest.

You didnt play the Battlefield beta did you? You honestly dont think this beta is a bang up to date build do you? Also plenty of beta's have came out in the past 3 or 4 years and have been different on final release. I expect this to be the same.

You're using BF3 as an example? Really? That game barely changed ANYTHING between "beta" and release. They turned off the terrain deformating because it was bugged to hell, and...well, that was it. The game launched in a "beta" state. The squad system didnt work, frequent disscounnects, chat system broken, bugs and glitches out the ass...ALL of those where in the beta....ALL of those where issues where reported to EA/DICE, and yet not one of them where fixed come release. "beta" indeed....
You dont think the hit detection from the beta to final game improved? Now i know you guys are at the wind up.
I didnt play the beta that much since I thought it sucked.
But at the retail which I got this month, yes, it sucks sometimes IMO. And I stopped caring about the game.

They both play on PS3, don't judge them!
I actually agree for the most part. Most of these console betas are just glorified demos. Many demos are pre-release builds too. The only reason the backlash here is shocking is because it's Ghost Recon, and it's a miracle that Ubisoft has any good faith left among the masses.
Makes sense, i heard BF3 on PS3 had alot of issues.
Because it is.
Garbage input lag from the controller, no reload animations sometimes, sound goes on and off constantly, hit detection is off (yes, getting hit but not close to death, I am behind a wall of a bulding, I die).
Its pathethic...on PS3.
With GR FS, the weapon handling is unbalanced, AR through scope is practically like laser rifles with pinpoint accuracy. The delay between ADS and popping out of cover is basically none.
I killed 3-4 guys just by doing that within 5 seconds limit and they were all in zigzag formation (they should remove ADS from the game completely since its NOT a first person game and it should always remain in third person.
Abusing the camera/UAV and location grenades, see through walls and just spam grenades...yes, really fun! :/
Its just as bullshit as the Tactician's scan ability in Killzone 3.
Again, the game has its BS issues and since the game has been in development for so many years, delayed so many times, coming out around 20th of next month, this is nothing but a stress test for servers and maybe just minor tweaks here and there.
My main attraction to even buy the game interms of gameplay was the multiplayer since I like the SP and the entire futuristic look to it all. But when this has issues and has low chance of being fixed yes, I cancelled my pre-order.
This beta sucked ass BIG TIME. CANCELED my pre-order also. Xoar you don't know Jack. I have played enough betas to know that it pretty much the same game as retail, just a few changes here and there.
Its not like its magically a new type of game lol. If i feel a beta is a 3/10 then its going to be about a 4/10 for me when the retail game comes out. It WONT be a 9/10. BF3 beta for me on 360 was a 7/10 and the full game was an 8/10 cause they fixed lots of bugs.
Ubisoft failed badly on this beta and the full game will not be much better. It will be poo(beta) with sprinkles(full game)on it. Would you eat that? lol

They can always patch in some fixes of what people find unbalanced.

You know what makes me smile the most
I fucking hate where Ghost Recon has gone (and i am not going to say any more than that beccause you all know i fucking hate it)
They change there style to appeal to the likes of "sath" and co to help the sales and look... low and behold sath hates it...
So they have screwed themselves again, failing to sell to orginal fans and failing to sell to the people they are now trying to win over.
Ubi soft cant fix a game to save there life
go see SC:HD trilogy.. still fucked.
Im a big fan of GR games and have been disappointed at this new future direction they have took but you know what....the beta is extremely playable and the game is fun. It's took me by surprise tbh and it's far superior to games like COD and while the COD gang might pick it up on release they wont stick around for long.

The Beta was very close the released game. They fixed some major bugs but not all of them. But the gameplay was already spot on at that time and nothing major changed in that regard.
In contrast the GRFS Beta is a mess. Gameplay is imbalanced and all those camper friendly gadgets won't go away. The CONCEPT is broken, it'll stay the same for the retail game.

Stop kidding yourself on nothing changes from beta's to final release.
The bullets curve like Wanted around corners sometimes even when you are clearly behind a wall.
The game still has it nasty issues.
