It's very interesting to see how some things look very different than the original, like those palm beach trees in Vice City and those trees in San Andreas when Carl slides his hand across the rear of a white car. Which the models are so different that they look like user made mods.
Specially when a lot of people said they didn't like most HD texture mods because they looked different than the original textures. Now there's a remake that does exactly that. Which reminds me of countless times I've heard developers justify these types of changes by saying that this is what they wanted to do at the time, but couldn't for various reasons, like hardware.
In the end, even though Take-Two has been very horrible to the modding community, in a way this reaffirms the talent and competence of the modding community. Specially when they got shat by people who never even made a simple mod in their entire life - who loved to say other people's mods twisted the developer's vision.
PS. Sorry for this is rant, but I remember vividly the comments here of people talking shit about user made mods and this remake looks exactly like that and it looks gorgeous. But since it's official from the developers, I'm sure those same people now will praise this remake. Never understood why some people took issue with something that is optional and only makes games better for millions of people - all for free. The modding community is fantastic and instead of receiving support, they got a lot of abuse for nothing. At least now, this vindicates them in a way.

Commented on 2021-10-24 13:51:01I wish Twisted Metal 1 and 2, Driver and the all the PS1 Ridge Racer games got this sort of a remaster. Not one that costs a 100 million to make because then a huge and talented studio would have to make it. Just something much more AA of a remaster like this.
@Sdarts I don't think I'm one of those people that ever said that because I have never seen footage of mods for the PS2 GTA games on PC that came ANYWHERE close to looking like this.
@Dan2510 Cool, post some videos of that please, would love to see it. And the video needs to be the whole of the 3 games too, not one block of portion of one of the cities as a proof of concept or some nonsense.

Commented on 2021-10-26 06:05:32 In reply to GrimbarianI appreciate remakes over remasters. Demon's Souls and Final Fantasy VII were a blast. But I will get the remaster of Live is Strange next year as well ;)
I have a way to large backlog on my games :D
