With PC gamers becoming more used to the idea of early access on Steam, the list of genres it covers continues to increase, with the arrival of The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 further welcoming point-and-click adventures to the fold. Impressions
Wasting no time, The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 picks up more or less where the first part ended. While it’s certainly possible to follow the story without having played the previous episode, we might suggest sampling the demo version of the first game to see if it tickles your fancy. If it does, then just buy it, complete it and come back for more with the second episode. The previous game certainly hasn’t lost any of its luster with its beautiful backdrops and memorable world. Back to the sequel now. Its design won’t surprise anyone, of course, since it’s clear that King Art has no intentions of revolutionizing the genre. Logic puzzles are its main draw (perhaps a bit too easy for hardcore adventurers) but most of the challenge stems from triggering characters that previously offered no real help (or clicking again on a piece of scenery that was previously of no apparent value to you). Only chapter 1 (out of 5 planned) is available at the moment, but it will keep you quite busy anyway. As you can see in our video, this new episode is still a visual stunner with even its 3D characters animating very nicely. Charmingly amusing, this is a sequel looking like a perfect fit for enthusiasts of classic adventure games. Let's hope the four other chapters will live up to our expectations.
