Five years after the events of the original, OXENFREE II: Lost Signals introduces an all-new cast of characters for a supernatural thriller. Players will follow Riley Poverly, an environmental researcher who returns to her hometown of Camena to investigate mysterious radio signals that are disrupting the small town's electronic equipment. She soon discovers a long history of ghostly happenings on nearby Edwards Island and becomes embroiled in a spooky and supernatural mystery. Featuring Night School Studio's signature naturalistic dialogue system, OXENFREE II: Lost Signals gives players more autonomy to shape their experience in unexpected ways. The game will be available in 2022 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC and clearly seems to be in the direct line of the first opus. Here is some gameplay footage.

I played the prequel but found it boring probably because of the lack of gameplay and the not much interesting story. But the art style and music was great!

One problem in the prequel was the too short timeframe available to decide between different answers. This is not a problem if you're a native English speaker but otherwise it was one.

is this normal? refering to the original iteration, previously released, a prequel? i think its a tad wrong.

I don't know where Oxenfree 2 is set in the timeline. I don't know if it is a prequel, sequel or a spinn-off. So I am lazy, didn't investigate and simply called Oxenfree 1 a prequel. I think this is totally fine :)
