GSY Review

Another review on Gamersyde today with Desperados III, that we played on Xbox One and PC. Inside, you will find our verdict and a bunch of videos of the game on PC. The review was based on the Xbox One version but our experience on PC was just as great, if not better as we didn't encounter any bugs even after 24 hours spent on the game. We only completed it on Xbox though.
Note: Videos will be added as soon as possible.

Verdict
Let us be very clear, Desperados III is mostly meant for the stubborn players who are also a bit masochistic in their own way, but if you think you fit the description like we do, the game offers an incredibly satisfying experience. The gameplay mechanics are deep, the levels have been designed with clockwork precision and even the immersive visuals and sound design add a lot to the overall experience. Sure, this game does not come with any major novelty in terms of pure execution, but it does everything so perfectly well that it easily reaches the same heights as the best titles in the genre. No more, no less.
- On the upside
- Perfectly crafted mechanics
- Impressive level design
- Great visuals and sound design
- It plays great, even with a controller
- Challenges are as tough as they should be
- On the downside
- A few minor bugs on Xbox One (prior to a big patch)

My brother and I loved playing the Commandos games as teenagers, as well as Robin Hood: The Legend of Sherwood, the Desperados and Gangsters games. Desperados 1 was great, just like the first 2 Commandos games, but Western.
Desperados 2 suffered a lot from going into almost full 3D, it didn't work as great as Commandos 2 and 3's jump to fully 3D. And Helldorado - formerly Desperados 3 - was a total letdown.
I'm really glad to see that Desperados 3 returns the series to its former glory, Mimimi Productions did great with Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun as well. I hope - far fetch dream - that they will be able to work on a new Commandos game one day, I'm sure they would ace it. Who knows, maybe one day they will be able to.
PS. "/!\ The Vodoo witch is called Isabelle, not Charlotte. :ashamed:"
Seriously, Drift?! Seriously??? That's shameful, really shameful. You just offended all the Isabelles and Charlottes of the world. Damn...
