Because 2018 was a bit lacking in terms of huge Nintendo Switch exclusives, Nintendo decided early 2019 was the right time to bring back Mario in New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe, a port of the game which was also released on Wii U. Here is what we think about it.
Verdict
As it is usually the case with the Wii U games that get a Switch port, there is really no reason to put your money down again if you've already played the original title. New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe is quite old school in its design, it does not feature anything particularly new in terms of gameplay mechanics, but it remains an excellent 2D Mario to play.
The presence of New Super Luigi U and a few additional characters are welcome, especially if you have never played the game before, but we can't help but feel such ports would require more new content to be fully justified for the fans.
- On the plus side
- Hours of gameplay ahead of you
- Fun multiplayer
- Mario is back in 2D and he's still in great shape
- On the downside
- Nothing new for Wii U owners
- Lack of originality
- A bit expensive for a mere port

On a side note, I love the outlines in the subsections, makes them more stylish and highlights them well.
but mostly, this thing should not be £40+. it's a 6 year old port. what the fuck are nintendo smoking?
What I really want is Mario Maker 2.
