GSY Review PC PS4 Xbox One

You may be familiar with TT Isle of Man or you may not, but this annual motorcycle sport event has been going on for more than a century now and it's getting its own official game. We have a bunch of videos of the PC version inside, along with our verdict and the usual +/- section you've now become accustomed to. Enjoy!

Verdict

Back when we first saw the game in August 2017, we had good reasons to be worried. At the time, there were serious issues with the controls and the physics engine, and knowing that the game was originally planned for a late 2017 release, it was not looking good. Now that we've played the soon to be final PC version (console versions are out today but PC players will have to wait until March 27), we can say developer Kylotonn has done a tremendous job. Our only concern is that the current review build of the game suffers from random crashes, which can be pretty frustrating when you're in the middle of a 20-minute race. There is still time to fix this before release, and as far as we know, it's not a problem on consoles, but we sincerely hope it will get sorted out in time. Aside from that, there are still a few things you could objectively complain about, like the lack of tracks (though the game is about learning to master those that are available, and believe, it will take time and efforts), the absence of rain (because the TT Isle of Man race never takes place in the wet) and a few other things, but BigBen Interactive's title is all about the crazy sense of speed and all the tension the bikers feel during the real event. And clearly, that's something they have nailed big time.
  • On the plus side
  • The demanding tracks will please the pros
  • Impressive sense of speed
  • Gameplay is appealing and makes you want to keep playing
  • Several levels of driving assists to choose from
  • The Isle of Man track is 1:1
  • The added tracks are pretty cool
  • The British countryside has its charms
  • Pretty nice-looking on PC
  • Engine sounds
  • On the downside
  • The AI when it decides to ignore we're there
  • Some are bound to be frustrated by the demanding tracks
  • The PC version suffers from random crashes at the moment
  • Lighting is a bit flat
  • There could be more content (tracks, bikes, game modes)
  • Career mode isn't particularly exciting

That's what you get! Take your console and like it!

But, seriously, any chance we could get Drift to make the video panes have the middle size option like YT does?

Is this the one made by Team VVV?

I remember the arcade Sega Manx TT and thinking that was impressive. This looks close to real in places. Amazing roadside detail. Hopefully one day it'll be ported to VR so we can get a more accurate impression of what the riders actually see, and maybe get some of the courses from around the north coast of Ireland too. These riders have some balls. Makes F1 look like a gang of fannies in comparison.

What do you mean made by Team VVV? They're not game developers as far as I know, are they?

Kylotonn developed the game, they've also been also responsible for the WRC series since the 5th installment.

It's just what I've been seeing from this game on Youtube from the name of the channel.

It's actually a sim racing channel, but I was sure they were publishers of race sims of some sort.

You really don't know what you're talking about. They cover consoles just as much as PC.

Are there replays in this game? Looks amazing, I would never have known about this low key game, but it's tempting.
