Grand Theft Auto IV's official website has been updated with a wild array of new and cool stuff, counting these screenshots and a trailer featuring the funny Playboy X character. Come on, only two weeks left!
One thing I noticed in both the new trailers (there are two) is the framerate seems very smooth, 30fps constant now. The trailers looked amazing to me.
Still I still find I can't really separate the reality of the trailers and my experience and knowledge of GTA worlds from the screenshots. I could see how some might say the screens look bad, but with any context in your mind they look amazing.
Whoever says the graphics suck has no idea what they're talking about. ITS A SANDBOX GAME ! The amount of resources needed to run everything in the background sacrifices some of the graphics fidelity. Even then this game looks PHENOMENAL ! The lighting engine particularly is absolutely breathtaking.

if they can make a game online multiplayer then they can make it split screen, the thing i dont get is that they market the ps3 as being able to connect up to 7 controllers to it, and the xbox 360 4 controllers, what good does that do when the majority of the games that are being made now are NOT SPLITSCREEN. Microsoft wants you to pay them money to play online, atleast sony is free, but come on people MAKE SPLITSCREEN GAMES, Online is fine and dandy, but what are people supposed to do when there are more than one person in the house who want to play a game, and what about people who like to have friends over.
Please don't say people are retards because they expect a certain quality of graphics. Of course they won't be like those from a Fight Night game, because the game engine is overloaded with stuff. My problem is, the quality seems to differ a lot from screen to screen. By example, I find that screen 3 looks really good. On the other hand, screen 12 with the jogger isn't really good, it looks like a painting with not a lot of details. I know where the game will shine is through dialogues, missions and randomness. I just feel some pics are not doing a great job of pimping its visual side.

why would an online mode mean split screen is achievable? you realise online mode only renders the same as what goes on in single player. and in most cases considerably less since AI etc isnt active and maps are usually smaller. split screen effectively DOUBLES (or in some cases quadruples) what the system has to do, and for a game like GTA which is doing so much already in terms of the euphoria engine and the scale of the world, it would just be close to impossible. its the reason its been scrapped in prototype, the reason it wasnt in crackdown and the reason a game like fable forces you onto the same screen.
i agree with the fact there should be more split screen games, but im never going to expect it from a game like GTA. i mean, have you played rainbow six vegas in split screen, the game looks terrible. i cant imagine the drop in quality if GTA was to do it.
wow, 2 weeks already? it feels like just yesterday that it was a month away. time is flying by so fast. which is good cause i want this damn game.
and those park pics are amazing. not that they look that great, but the attention to detail is fantastic. im gonna have a lot of fun disturbing that little exercise session.
WHAT is up with the shooting range with civilians testing the guns?????? Can we go into that place, shoot someone, and be faced with a brave visiting civilian pulling up an ak47 at us? :D
I hate to say it, since I haven't been attracted to this series for a long time (since GTA1 and 2, actually) but this could win me over. Waiting for reviews to drop in...
GOddamnit people, why do you keep falling for this? Its obvious that the enlarged shots all look like shit compared to it's original size. GO to Rockstars site and check how the screens look WITHOUT enlarging them. That's what the game is gonna look like...it looks exactly like the trailers...
