Xbox 360 PS3 Wii PS2

Activision announces Guitar Hero : World Tour, fourth musical game in this now world acclaimed franchise. To steal a part of Rockband's success, it will allow two new instruments apart from the usual guitar, namely the drum and the micro. Those who like challenges will be able to battle it out online with groups of four players in the Battle of the Band mode. Another really important feature is the possibility to create & share your own custom track, only without voice for copyright reasons.
Update: Added the first trailer, not showing much of the game...

Oh, and there's also the "Create-a-Rocker" mode where you can choose in details the appearance of your character. Release date : Automn 2008.

Agreed.

I'd buy it even if it were just for guitar.

I wonder how deep and good the create a track will be. So the game will take out the voice? Automatically without affecting the track??? Really????

OR

I'm getting this wrong and what you mean by creating your own custom track you mean the tracks included with the game and thus creating your "own".....if so, meh. It's ok, but not a bit thing.

I'm just hoping for some kickass music (including system of a down), 100+ of them, and a fair price for the drums--and make them RIGHT.

The create-a-track option doesn't appeal to me at all. I do like that you only get to upload like 5 of your creations, and they have to be voted on by the community and actually be decent before you can upload anything else.

I swear to god though, if they put another fucking Sonic Youth song in there, I will burn their offices to the ground. Sonic Youth is TERRIBLE.

It'd also be nice if they could limit the number of cheap-sounding bands ala The Strokes/Arctic Monkies/Vines/Hives/White Stripes/etc.... I simply can't stand that under-produced, Sears brand guitar, singer who can't sing bullshit that the radio, MTV, commercials, and now games is constantly assaulting me with.

I suppose it could be worse... there could be an Amy Whinehouse song or something by Feist... *shudders at the thought*

I just hope they don't forget that it's called Guitar Hero. Bring on the Satch, the Vai, the Malmsteen, and the Petrucci! All of their stuff is varied and fun enough that they'd be PERFECT for a GH game.

yay, seems like this could actually be the game to buy for those europeans that won't get shafted by EA and their rediculous pricing of RockBand.

Guitar Hero Forever!

Can't wait. :D

due to the Rock Band pricing dilemma in Europe, I am happy to see GHWT got all those fresh new ideas ... I had already lost faith in the franchise, until now! Let's rock!

Not too shabby. If the games weren't so expensive (and abusive of DLC) I might actually buy one myself!
You know you don't have to buy the DLC, right?

I can see Activision making it to where you would not be able to use any Rock Band instruments. If they do then its a no buy for me.

Ditto. There's no way I'm filling my living room with another full set of plastic instruments just so I can play this rip-off of a game. Thanks but no thanks.

Why is this a "rip-off of a game?"

If GHIV's peripherals actually, ya know, work...then I'll gladly put my Rock Band ones into storage where they belong(and where the Rock Band guitar has been sitting since Christmas....piece of shit).

I'm sorry but not everyone here feels like paying $200 every time an Activision game comes out. Also I enjoy the Rock Band guitar and I own two(wired, wireless) and they both work great for what they need to do.

I have the oil companies, blu-ray movies, Xbox 360 games, PS3 games and cell phone companies sucking money from me as if it were my blood and this Guitar Hero game would have to have every Metallica song in existence for me to buy it with all the instruments again.

Its a rip off because this GUITAR hero game is adopting drums and a microphone after Rock Band did it. Also Rock Band was created by the original creators of Guitar Hero.

lol @ FordGTGuy........like many other people have said in other threads, everything that came after Konami's series of games is rippoff, including the original GH.

Neversoft HAD to make a strategic move, just like they came up with RockBand, a ripoff of a Guitar Hero (even when it's the original team), which is in turn a ripoff of Konami's series. So please stop this crap ripoff talk.

And like someone said, if the drums actually WORK unlike in RB, then it is going to be a bigger win for Neversoft because the guitar for RB is just SAD.

Ignorance leads to hypocritical comments that's all I can say.

If the peripherals work well with GH:WT, then I'll feel like Rock Band was a rip-off(in the cheap, inferior version sense...not the original concept sense). The RB guitar was literally unusable out of the box due to it dropping like 25% of down-stroked notes, and the drums were even worse. 2/4 instruments we use with RB are GH instruments.

I would like them to sell the peripherals separately from the get-go though. If I could get away with just buying the drums and game, that'd be ideal.

I've own the Rock Band guitar and I've never had a problem with it. In fact, I much prefer Rock Band's guitar over GH's merely because it's the guitar I'm used to playing with. I've also never had a problem with the drums. I've played pretty much every song on the list with them and there's never been a problem. Not sure if I'm lucky or people are just complaining for the sake of complaining, but personally I don't want to have to dish out another $150+ dollars every time a new game like this comes out.

You're lucky. I'm not merely complaining for the sake of complaining. It's well-known enough that the Rock Band peripherals can be utter trash as there have been do-it-yourself articles in magazines on how to fix them.

I guess newer peripherals have been working better, but mine sure as hell suck.

I wonder if they can pull off an experience as fun as Rock Band, because I felt GH3 was GH2.1 while Rock band was an entire new experience. I hope they can give Rock Band some competition though, that's always good.

Oh, and never talk about the White Stripes like that. Jack White has more talent in one of his pinkies than you have in your whole body.

GH3 was essentially GH2 but better. RB was a new experience because of the new instruments. I'm pretty sure this will deliver.

That may be(maybe), but he should have made a real band that allowed him to display those talents. The White Stripes had some catchy stuff, but it was actually pretty low on the talent side of things and for me, it didn't sound good; I'm simply not a fan of shitty shitty guitar tone and weaselly vocals.
