PC Xbox

Half-Life 2, one of the last biggest Xbox games to come-out, showcases with these 9 screenshots. Nothing compares with the PC version of course, but the game doesn't look that bad... Well, actually it does look bad, but I'm sure it could have been worst. And, more than the graphics, the real pain in the ass is definitively the lack of any Xbox-Live option, even a simple deathmatch mode. A shame for sure, and not exactly the type of defect you'd expect from such a blockbuster. Valve is Valve...
[NB]: Just in case, it seems that most of these images are from May. So perhaps there is still hope for the graphics...

Thanks to MorphBZH for the tip.

Yeah, it looks "okay", but it's definitnely a joke compared to the PC version. Great game though, that shouldn't change.

At least it looks better then the PS2 version of Half-Life 1!!. If anything it will give people who don't own super good computers or people like me who don't own DX9 graphic cards and don't have more than 250mb of ram a chance to play this game!

It looks O.K, but I hoped it would've been better looking.
Xbox(64mb ram and a 733mhz cpu) compared to a MAX Requirements of HL2 (3.2ghz cpu radeon 9800 xt), compared with those specs it's pretty good that it's running on the Xbox.

At least the kept what's important for the game, namely stuff like: physics, lighting shadowing..

But comparing this game with FarCry, which on the PC had some serious system requirements, and FarCry: Instincts which is basically FarCry on the PC but masively revised, IMO FarCry looks damn good on the Xbox and looks almost as good and sometimes better than the PC version of the game.

IMO Valve should've put this game out on Xbox 360 with Multiplayer included.

Yeah I have to agree with ZeroEx, Valve should have released Half-Life 2, Aftermath expansion, with HL2 Death Match as a pack for the 360 they could have also released Counter Strike Source aswell. The recent updates Valve have made to the Source engine like HDR lighting would have done nicely on the 360, it would have made a nice launch title.

Actually they have decreased the number of interactive objects in the Xbox version. Lights & shadows ... err ... well, you know, technically HL2 was never about these things. Unlike Doom 3, it uses pretty simple pre-rendered shadowmaps and other stuff like that instead of real-time shadows. And that's why -- because artists have lit the environments, not the machine -- it looks so natural.

People are whores when it comes to this game. The PC version is nice, but it isn't completely amazing. It could have looked and played better in some areas. Personally, i think this looks pretty damn good for the Xbox, especially considering that it includes HDR when the PC version didn't. Not to mention, these screens are the real deal, not some mocked up crap or devkit crap running in hi res with 16x AA....

spacemanjupiter:
Absolutely. I mean, if you stand like 1 meter away from the wall, it looks terrible. The city is very very cool, and there is alot of detail on the houses with many objects, but in close, it looks like crap. And I mean, a Geforce 3 can handle the game with OK options.

But yeah, there are some cool shaders (are they called that?), some cool mapping and stuff. Very impressive, and they really built the graphics really smart.

They'd better release this at $29 or less. I'll blow my stack if it's the full $49.
