Bungie released these 6 official images from the beta of Halo 3. Their original resolution was 3840x2160, so they shouldn't be taken as an indication of the game's image quality. Not that it looks bad on my TV mind you.
Any game with split screen multiplayer has toned down graphics for that mode. It should look 2-4 times better when you're playing campaign. It looks great either way.
Kinda weird, im getting a feeling that those graphics overall look better than gears. Maybe not from a technical standpoint but it has that something that makes it very pleasing to the eyes. Maybe it's the color palette that looks way better than the brown and grey games.
I need to add that no, im not a Halo fan. I just like the game.

The levels are much more open and allow more players so its apples and oranges

gears look the same split screen multiplayer or single player but I hope your right.

WTF is that in image 4?! How many new weapons are there? All i know are the halo1 assualt rifle, the red laser gun, spike grenade, bubble shield, and some mine thingy!!! What else is there!
