Bungie and Microsoft released a new vidoc of Halo Reach during the Comic Con', detailing the numerous changes to the Forge map editor, along with many new images.
OK, after seeing this video I'm now starting to think Reach will finally be the game to impress me as much as the first Halo did. This new forge mode shows SOOOOO much fucking promise it's insane. The amount of amazing maps the community can make is gonna be a real treat for FPS fans.
between this, the amazingly customizable firefight mode, and everything else they've shown I just can't get over the content reach offers.
Reach is looking like it's really gonna be one hell of an amazing swan song for Bungie in the halo world.
very cool, it's a shame you're limited to such stylistically similar peices, but people will do some crazy things with this. so much better the original forge mode.
Reach has serious potential to be remembered as one of the greatest games of all time. I can't think of a game that "Overall", offers more content/quality than Reach will. I honestly can't believe the amount of content/features that Bungie is including with Reach. Campaign/Firefight with MM/Map Editor/Multiplayer... and ALL of those will be at the very least "Good". Most likely, they will all be EPIC.
Other console games have included such features, but gameplay wise, they were always average at best.
Halo has arguably the best multiplayer on a console, now it has a TRUE map editor that I'm sure will get more pieces and maps to build on in the future. The best part about the map editor is that I'm sure Bungie will be including the best Forge maps into MM. Which means players will get new maps to pwn kids on for free.
Reach might not leave my Xbox for MONTHS after it's released. My head just exploded ....

well, it's true. Insane for a Editor, pleople just shouldn't expect a Map Creator.

Yeh I don't know why they are still using the Forerunner textures, just look at the human architecture in photos 8, 9, 10!

It's going to be one of those games that I will enjoy playing so much that I won't buy any other games for months!
That's how I'm feeling. I don't wanna jump the gun and declare it the greatest game of all time or anything, but man does it have every opportunity to be mentioned with the best. May fav single player game of all time is Uncharted 2. I highly doubt Bungie will put out a more memorable and enjoyable campaign then U2. BUT, that's the only part of the game that is in question. Everybody knows the Multiplayer/Firefight/Editor will all be great.
IF the campaign is as good as I hope it will be. Reach will most likely have a spot on most peoples top 5 games list of all time.
"Overall"... I can't think of any game to date that has offered the amount of content/quality that Bungie is set to release. MAYBE, the Orange Box, but I think what Reach is set to offer will be more memorable/enjoyable.
The content alone isn't really what makes me so excited about Reach. It's the potential for quality that makes me so excited. Bungie has been criticized for putting out "Average" campaigns for the last 3 games. Judging from their actions...they are listening to the community. Things like Forge 2.0, Bloodgultch remake, Firefight MM, were all community ideas. So I have every reason to believe that Bungie is listening to the community and will put out a better than average campaign.
I'm buying the game. But I still feel that they should have upgraded the graphics much more. Sometimes it looks great, other times it looks so out-dated (see the screens where the characters don't cast shadows, look at the video to see that not 1 structure that is placed in, casts a shadow on the environment). I don't believe that Reach has a new engine.
But what this game offers is quantity in multiplayer terms. It's no longer a SP/MP game, it's a MP game with a singleplayer tacked on to it.
I'll never understand the graphical complaints with halo. The game looks pretty damn good to be honest. It seems like a lot of people(not saying you)only think games are good looking if they use real world color palates. Games with actual color are few and far between these days. I tend to enjoy Halo's "Look" when I play it. It's a nice change from all of the darker color palate games these days.
Does Halo look as good as the best looking games ? No, but it plays better than the best looking games and that's what counts in my book. I'm not trying to be a D, but the day I stop to check if shadows are being cast properly is the day that I know whatever game I'm playing isn't fun. The last thing I care about while I'm playing a round of TD is whether or not my body is casting a shadow lol.
[quote=Question: Will you be able to play Firefight at maps that you created?![/quote]
That's a good question. It would be cool, but sadly I don't think you'll be able too. In order to be able to play Firefight on user made maps, Bungie would have to include Firefight AI spawns, airdrop spawns etc..., and that's something I don't think the editor is set up to do. I could be wrong though....In fact, I hope I'm wrong lol.

looks awesome. So much value added this time round.. i just really hope Bungie/microsoft dont do a dick move and remove some of that value in effert to get you to buy the dlc like they did with Halo 3. Have this stay pure.

holy shit lol but will these created maps be only playable with friends?
Um, no. If you have ever played Halo 3 you will know that maps created in Forge can be downloaded by anybody. People can rate them and even be spotlighted for greater exposure. Bungie even did events for Halo 3, like weekends and such, that put people's custom maps into regular rotation in matchmaking.

The only custom maps that made it into regular MM rotation are the MLG maps (Onslaught and Amplified). And like the above poster pointed out there were special events with a ton of custom map variants.
I imagine the implementation will be better this time around. Maybe we'll even see a Playlist dedicated to it with the most popular maps. But that'd need some time until quality maps are available. Should be way faster than Halo 3.
It's not like I'm checking it, it's just noticable when you look at the screens. That's what screens are for, no? To look at them. I am a fan of Halo (just re-bought Halo 3 last week). But I do like good looking graphics also. And as this is the third Halo this gen, I expected more. And without trying to be a dick: I still love playing games and probably always will.
Forge World is a pretty large world. If you try to create a Gears or MW environment on such large maps, you wouldn't get the same graphical fidelity they're showing in those kind of games now.

Yeah, but you can still only play them with you friends because there's no custom games browser.

Its all too much to take in!
Firefight customization FTW
But I really want a close up screen from the new "Revenant". It's the new "Spectre" (from Halo 2).
