Halo:CE was amazing looking at the time.
Also, I'm not impressed with how quickly people felt the need to announce how unimpressed they are...as if we haven't seen enough of the game to know what it's going to look like.

What I meant ,is that Im not impressed because HALO Cant get better then this and that is a Good thing.
hmmm firefox doesnt seem to like the pics.. opens them too big and doesnt let me slide the view from side to side.
From what i can tell they look nice though. I tell ya, even though this is still obviously very much halo, it feels like such a refreshing change from all the modern warfare stuff that i'm actually really looking forward to Reach. And the more i hear about the game the more i can really see how much effert Bungie have put in to it.
I agree Bleached, from everything I see and hear about the game, I really feel like this is going to be Bungie's best product since Halo CE. If for no other reason than the fact that they are going back to that original formula in so many ways, just building on top of it this time.
Forge and Firefight alone have me so happy about this game I keep forgetting we might finally get a campaign that has a chance of living up to CE's super high standard. One can only hope...
Total bullshots. I've heard this game is running at sub HD, below 720p. These are shots of a super HD game, and the real deal isn't even HD at all. Not even the lower of the HD.
Prove to me that this game runs at true 720p and I'll seriously go preorder this game tonight.
The reason I sold Halo3 is because the immersion factor was destroyed by all the distracting aliasing.

Haha...not even a little...I played the beta, so I have first hand knowledge of the truth, and it's fine by me. I am, however, dumbfounded that you'd pass up a ton of value in terms of sheer content and playability based on a number. Seems pretty stupid.
The beta looked fine, I have plenty of decent pics taken up close from that, that put these pictures to shame. The size of these really doesnt do it any favours to be honest, but those that dont like it dont like it, no need for the flamewars (but then this IS halo!!)
This will be the best Halo yet, I have no doubts about that.

I hope that was sarcasm cause if not i'm glad I don't know you in person cause i'd slap you upside the head. The game looks good, not Crysis good but the little touches in atmosphere and scale is what makes Reach stand out. Its people like you who would obviously rather have the best graphics rather than the best gameplay.

I like the shuttle launch shots very much. That trail effect is very pretty... reminds me of Half-Life Episode 2.

There are 4 year old consoles out there with way more sub-HD games... bring the list wars. I expected people to be accostumed to this kind of resolution ups and dows by now... in freaking console realms. we are in what... 7th console gen? get over it, having acess to 480pxs+ TVs in this "HD" era made people such dumbasses.

A couple of people here really made some outrageously silly comments, one person in particular. You can't discredit this game for its graphics they're largely very nice and I really like the new plasma effect they have going on (covvie ship and shields). One thing people seem to miss is the style they've made and kept consistant throughout, as well as a sense of scale and how much more vibrant and colourful halo often is. Also I personally love the halo universe, setting and story, not often do I care for those things in a game but I like what bungie have built over the years. Mp for me has been fun but I never really stick with it but I have always enjoyed it so for me sp is the primary reason why I'm interested. Also this seems to have quite alot of content when compared to most shooters on the market today.
Using a game being "sub-HD" as a excuse to bash or not play it is absurd. That's something a real GAMER cares about. Halo is an amazing GAME, made by a fantastic developer and has a massive amount of great art and design. If they need to make it a little fuzzier in order to bring their world together with the performance need to keep the gameplay where it needs to be, well, more power to 'em. Hell the game is far from ugly in the first place...
There was quite a lot of discussion in the comments section about the screenshots from the beta we posted yesterday, wondering if the game is 720p or not. Our contention is that it is indeed 720p in that there are 720 progressive lines of resolution. However, as per our analysis of the original alpha footage posted from Bungie's first ViDoc, horizontal resolution is slightly cut down, giving native rendering at 1152x720.
Pretty diplomatic, really. Even spacemanjupiter can pretend that it matters, if he wants.
