You made me remember of this article about Windows 8, the monopoly of Microsoft, the elimination of open-source, restrictions and more... its future (and the future of gaming):

"Because no software can ship on this future platform without it going through the Windows Store, the team that built Skyrim would have to send it to Microsoft for certification. Then Microsoft would tell them if they could ship it.

Do you know what Microsoft's answer would be?

I do. It would be "no".

This is not speculative; it is certain. Skyrim is a game for adults. It has a PEGI rating of 18. If you read the Windows 8 app certification requirements you will find, in section 5.1:

Your app must not contain adult content, and metadata must be appropriate for everyone. Apps with a rating over PEGI 16, ESRB MATURE, or that contain content that would warrant such a rating, are not allowed.

And that's the end of it. No Skyrim for the Windows Store, unless of course the developers go back and remove all the PEGI 18-rated content.

That's 2011's Game of the Year, banned from the Windows Store. How about 2012? With several highly anticipated games yet to be released, it's anybody's guess which game will be selected. But a random sampling of internet predictions suggests some of the leading contenders are Max Payne 3, The Witcher 2, Mass Effect 3, Assassins Creed 3, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, and Borderlands 2. Of the four of those that have already shipped and been rated by PEGI, how many could be shipped on Windows Store?

Zero."

Many more millions than those that uses PS Vita. Understand that in a lot of ways, W8 and WP8 IS MS mobile platform, it is its Vita. Sony will be launching a new KillZone for Vita soon with a userbase of maybe 6 million...WP8 has well over 30 million and their has been 100 million W8 licenses sold thus far. I see no reason why MS should bring out a blockbuster franchise over with those kinds of numbers.

This is the dumbest thing Ive read all day. MS does force everyone who uses THE WINDOWS Store to go through them, but W8 is also a PC and as such their are many ways to get programs/games onto the platform. One of which would be to simply download it off a website or online store just like W7. That's a non issue. If any dev has a game that they would like to put out without MS's approval, then they only need do business as usual.

My point was simply this...that W8 and WP8 is MS's handheld and mobile gaming platforms...he was wondering "who uses W8", im saying many more people than those that uses Sony's handheld. If he can understand why Sony can bring out exclusive titles for their mobile platform with a much smaller userbase, than he should be able to understand why MS is bringing out an exclusive Halo title for theirs with a much larger userbase. You don't have to be nuts to upgrade to W8...it already has well over 50 million people using it and that number will only rise as time goes on. Oh, and the game could never run on W7 because W7 is incapable of running Windows RunTime.

Is that the reason they are giving for using that fail OS ? I remember Halo 2 on Vista only. lmao. Not a big loss at all. Microsoft has nothing done for PC gaming. This is irrelevant too. Apparently it seems they are not doing good for xbox as well.

LOL...spare me the fanboy talk...best leave that up to N4G where it belongs. If selling 100 million of anything is a fail to you, than you simply fail at logic. If W8 is a fail, then the Vita is a super fail...if W8 is a fail, then every version of OS X is a colossal fail. But my question to you would be why shouldn't MS support its own platforms with exclusive titles regardless of the size of its userbase? Going by your logic, Sony should stop producing all games for the Vita and its laughable userbase. However, its the content that increases the appeal of any platform...you have to start somewhere...if MS can bring more of its popular franchises over than the platform gets even more appealing.

So now the conversation has switched from a userbase of any given platform and the support of that platform with exclusive content, to who's doing the most for gaming. LOL...OK. And why do you feel that MS isn't doing exactly what others are doing for gaming? Why is it that Sony and others are doing more?

And no, you are wrong. That was the guy who you're defending point was. He came out and took a shot at W8's userbase size by saying "who uses W8?", that was a comment not about support for the platform, but its size period. The difference of iOS and Android vs W8 is they lack any type of first party games or studios to support their platform with...they run exclusive off 3rd party titles. Yes, they are big userbases (in mobile), but my comments have to do more with how a platform holder SUPPORTS its platform with exclusive content in the gaming space. Again, Sony in your eyes is doing right by Vita by putting out exclusive games on their own mobile platform...yet somehow its bad when MS does the same thing? What part of the game is that?

First of all. I proved your point completely moot with the ios and android platform based on the userbase that you were trying to bring with Win8 and Vita for some reason. ok

Secondly as far as first party support for their platform goes. Microsoft is not good in that. Going by the xbox and even on 360. On Windows they barely did anything. So I am not sure how this game on Win8 all of a sudden is amazing support for their platform. WTF ? For XO they have some 2nd or 34d party exclusives probably time exclusives. But we need to wait and see over a long period of time how it works
