Oh so you guys over at Gamersyde are not happy with this game either? Im hearing so many mixed reviews, tbh i wasn't fazed by IGN's review as i don't normally listen to those type of chaps criticisms.

Like VN1X said, play the demo and you will know how it is yourself.

I didn't mind the demo, i liked it, the only thing that frustrated me was when i died, i didn't respawn..wth!

Yep...and people say all the talent left Rare! Shocking how bad this game has turned out as it had so much promise.

Yawn. Why not go to Metacritic instead if you don't trust IGN? Haze is sitting at 57 based on 19 reviews. That's pretty shitty.

The demo was pretty awful and bland, and the whole "nectar" concept was just gimmicky and unoriginal.

Hmm i wouldn't trust a japanese magazines opinion on a fps game, both metacritic and gamerankings has this game at 57%

I've been playing the full game this morning for three hours or so. It's not a brilliant game sadly but it is competent if a little unexciting. Its biggest crime is that it so generic and bland, it feels like you're playing bits of every other FPS, particularly Halo and Far Cry. The graphics are underwhelming too: angular, poorly textured and with glaringly obvious LOD scaling... it really does look like a PS2 game at times. In fact, the whole game feels like it's slipped through a timewarp from 2003. It's a just above average shooter IMO and so I'd give it 6/10. I don't think it's as bad as IGN or Eurogamer made out because it doesn't do anything badly, it's all just a bit too uninspired and dated.

Clearly you WANT to play this game and have been eagerly waiting it's arrival, so don't let us or negative reviews stop you.

But when a game has as many red flags as Haze you should at least consider downloading or renting the game first as those options would be far better than making a costly blind faith purchase.

bad reviews or not, i still want to play it. if i can play, and get some enjoyment from shit like turning point, turok, or timeshift, im pretty sure i can enjoy haze as well. it may be completely generic, but that doesnt mean its a complete unplayable mess (like some of you are making out)

i have it on my rental list and will recieve it tomorrow...not bad really. i get it for free (LOVEFILM offer code) only a day after its release...sure as hell beats buying it for 40 quid.

Reviews in famitsu are made with the publisher input. They are not meant to really criticise but to promote. When a publisher is advertising with the magazine, then the director of edition and publisher PR meet and discuss how to note and review.

Mind you, this is the case of most japanese review magazines in any domain, this is just how it is in the culture.

Aaaaaanyway, back to the game... there are so many good fpses and even these are usualy not my cup of tea, so a mediocre one like Haze will never register a second of playtime from me.

I had a go of the demo and it is not that great all the hype it needed more exciting landscapes and better weapons and the novely factor of the drug collecting is a bit tedious you do wonder if games like these get tested by proper gamers because surely at the design stage someone should have said the gameplay is a bit boring its funny how you dont get the designers coming on and explaining why they made a game so bland its not what modern shooter fans want

Well I've completed the game myself. (~7 hours in two sittings). I thought the bad reviews were a bit harsh after the first sitting. I still think controls wise it is spot on and up there with the best. The second half had some truly terrible moments however. Realistically it is a 4 or a 5 (not tried the multiplayer).

I have to hope that the talent at FR is concentrating on Time Splitters 4. Though I'm worried about that on PS3 as I would guess they will persist with their own in-house game engine, and they clearly clearly have issues getting to grips with the hardware.

So many mixed reviews... I know people who thought it would be crap after the reviews came out, but loved it, and others not phased by the reviews, but were disappointed... It's either a "love it or... dislike it" type of game. Kinda like a goofy comedy; either you'll love it, or dislike it... but not despise it... meh, I'm still gonna buy it. I didn't think the demo was bad... The jungle scene look way better than Turok did, and I kinda liked Turok.

So if the game is so bad, what could have warranted the seven month delay? Oh well, I guess that exclusive hype just went into the sewers.
