Video PS3

Here is a new video of Heavy Rain. Once again this video shows more than you may want to see before its release. Meanwhile we learn interesting elements about the storyline and characters of the game. That could convince some people that this game might be worth a look.

Yeah, don't watch this if you want to buy it. The looks and concept are rather interesting, but I still don't know how it's supposed to work as a game.

Anyway, good or bad, it'll most likely bomb just like every other title that doesn't fit into the blockbuster scheme.

It will be very interesting to read reviews about this game. Personally i doubt this concept will result in a captivating game.

I'll be waiting for copies to show up cheap on eBay. It just looks like that sort of short "experience" type of game.

Let's hope it's a mega short story, but with very high replayability. Like a 2 hour movie, but with 50 endings. I woud imagine this would fit this type of gameplay.

Hmm this could be the best thing ever but i very much doubt it will find mass appeal

Looks particularly good but gamers are a shallow stupid lot on the whole - it's also why Bayonetta wont command bigger sales than it deserves

Add some fps in there and it might find some success lol

Man I can't wait to watch this game! Seriously though, I love me some old school adventure games, but I also like to control them. From the sound of this game, it is basically just a digital choose your own adventure book. I don't think gamers are shallow and stupid for not being super hyped about this, most of us just like a little more control. Not to mention the fact that the game has you doing menial tasks like baking and snuggling. I doubt many people would be interested in a movie that involved watching people do said things. It could still turn out good, but I am not getting too hyped yet.

People don't like films with menial tasks? Whaaaaat? Have you never watched a cookery programme, or a sitcom with a scene in the dry-cleaners?

Also, since when was snuggling a menial task!?

There's just too much wrong with those two sentences.

I'm loving it. Looking forward to tense scenes and just when I think I am watching a movie I have to interact and save the day. This will be good!

They should have just made it into a film. To me there is really no point in interacting with a story in this way. It's not a game, it's an interactive movie.

OBJECTION.

This statement is clearly faulty.

while there is no doubt the game will fail commercially (if mass appeal games like killzone 2 and uncharted 2 can only JUST manage 2 million sold, what hope does a niche game like this have?) i seriously can't wait. my anticipation levels constantly switch between this and god of war 3 in terms of what i'm most excited for this year. but there is no doubt in my mind that i'll be buying this day one.

the prospect of a more grounded fahrenheit is awesome.

all i can think of is not more but less iteractive fahrenheit (probably with a more coesive story). I loled into oblivion when the commentor talked about interaction... like theres any.

it seems far more interactive this time around just in terms of the sheer number of things to interact with (some less impactful then others) more so then most games that boast such a feature (aside from shenmue). but far less QTE based (fahrenheit was like a QTE fest by the end of the game), all you ended up doing was those "simon says" QTE action events. it got rediculous. at least here they've toned it down a lot, thanks in-part to the grounded story and not having to escape giant dust mites at your office, and not having to have a full blown dragon ball z fight on the roof of a building.

heavy rain looks to have more scenes akin to those times in fahrenheit when you could just chill out in your appartment and do any number of things, from jamming on your guitar, listening to music, drinking some milk etc. mundane tasks, but it made you connect with the world better then most games try. you felt more in control of your characters actions then any "action" game ever has imo.

for me, heavy rain is taking what made shenmue interesting, be the insane level of interactivity (searching through every draw and every cupboard and being able to pick up the contents of said draws etc) or the storylione, and stripping away the stuff that didnt work or had no reason to be there (like the crappy streets of rage style brawler sections you'd randomly come across throughout the story)

if you dont like these slow, narrative based adventure games, be it shenmue, dreamfall, monkey island, grim fandango, fahrenheit etc, then heavy rain most certainly isnt for you. but thankfully i love them. they're a great change of pace compared to the million modern warfare clones out there, and generally they make you use your brain a lot more then you would bashing a few buttons and making a combo. although those games have their place to. i'm just greatfull i'm an open minded gamer, otherwise i'd have missed out on some truley amazing adventure games.

Sigh, you genuinely seem like a troller. Does using a fucking controller to control your character to explore the environment not count as fucking interaction (I'm also assuming there is an interactive fucking scenario in the game as well ala Fahrenheit)? Heavy Rain is in essence an adventure game and looks to have as much interaction as that in addition to the QTE for action sequences. How is that "lol into oblivion" worthy? Anyway, I'm personally excited for this.
