my only hope is that they're showing action for the sake of the trailer to appeal to the A.D.D crowd...seriously, they emphasised shooting a fucking red explosive barrel...lol...WTF! silent assassin indeed...hahaha

They state very clearly that "It's all up to you", so this is indeed made to appeal for the A.D.D crowd (the majority).

As long as it doesn't have an Iraqi-level abomination like in Conviction where it's all shootery, I'm cool with them giving more options.

Oh yeah and those are some brutal kills. Just shy of Manhunt...

What makes this any different than the previous games? You always had the option of going in killing everything. They even had guns designed for that purpose in the last games. The choice has always been there, but it seems now they have improved upon it rather than it being just a huge shooting gallery

They ALWAYS encouraged stealth tho, the proper way to play it. Or was the whole ranking system in my imagination? Gunning down the entire levels worth of enemies and NPCs got you a piss poor grade. Was it an option? Yes, but not the developers intended way to play. Seeing red explosive barrels just makes me die a little inside. It really is catering to the morons with no patience. Shame really, because visually it's quite nice.

I can certainly sympathize with you . . . especially seeing the red barrels and all. However, after seeing last E3's demo (see link below), I would not put too much stock into the action in this trailer. After all, we are living in the 'Call of Duty generation', and not many existing IPs can be expected to sell well unless the developers waste millions creating at least one (usually optional) dummied down path, for the inside the box 'thinkers' to ply their way through to the end. For the rest of us who know better, we still have the more rewarding route through the game. And if last E3's demo of Absolution has not yet proven that to one and all, then nothing anyone here can say is going to change anyone's mind. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CgqkP5TbhVI&hd=1

Yea I guess I can see your point, it is a bit sad that games seem to get shallower the higher the budget. Devs are playing it too safe now as they think any game that doesn't have a few explosions in it will guarantee their game will fail. I do have high hopes for this game despite it having more action-y parts to it, I think it looks great

Well, for one we only saw ONE red "barrel" to begin with so....Cant really say till we all play it.Those barrels may not be scattered everywhere and even if they are its still Hitman at its core.I think it will stay true to its roots(fingers crossed).

What's the big deal? I mean really... Going nuts with a gun has always been great fun in Hitman. I've beaten all the games on the hardest difficulty and I have also had tons of fun just roaming through a level with a souped up shotgun.

Also check out some of the blood money trailers. I remember there was alot of huffing over those giving the impressive of it being a dumbed down action fest.

Pre-ordering is a really dumb practice on the part of the consumer, and a marketing gimmick. Who trusts in a developer so much that they're willing to plonk down money for a game that's just been announced (that's when pre-orders start) and it will end up being perfect on release date? Then they sweeten the deal with pre-order initiatives, which just leads to a whole other road of audience splitting or is just cosmetic shit.

Pre-ordering is a way for publishers to target that blind loyalist demographic.

Hence why I love jokes about it.

I think the truth is, kids now and days do not have the patience, nor attention span for stealth game play. Look what they did to Splinter Cell as well. Completely unwanted.

I think when it comes to the business side of things, they're going to go out of their way to not take a hit to the pocket. There was a audience for stealth games. There still is, but trends show that publishers could care less about niche audiences. Plus with added costs, and different this that and the others compared to years ago... They want a larger demographic. And that always changes the game, if not makes projects completely mediocre, surrounded by mediocrity, in the long run. Whether or not fans of the series care, isn't much of a concern of theirs.

Otherwise you wouldn't be seeing the same wrapping on a completely different package.

That said, DAY ONE BUY.

Never payed attention to this game really...but HOLY F*** S***! I'm not so certain i'll care if the game is considered "Unorigional" or "Not epic enough/bad story" whatever negatives arise....but if you can just be a powerhouse BA assassin like what the vid displays....that to me is a video game folks... day one

If there is a lack of attention or patience in the younger gamers today it's not because there's something wrong with them, it's because the trends that evolved from the prior generations of games, as well as the general growth of the industry; to make a triple A game you have to guarantee it's going to sell.

Blockbuster action titles are obviously going to be big hitters.

So why not create a new blockbuster action game IP and leave hitman untainted. Same goes for splinter cell conviction. If you arnt going to be faithful to the existing franchise, make a new one, dont just slap the name on something completely different and expect the existing fans to love it. Hell, if this was called "bald explosive barrel shooter" i'd think, "oh, looks like a generic action game, i'll pass" but them trying to pass this off as a hitman title, or ubisoft trying to pass conviction off as a SC title, all i can think is "nooooo, what have you done to the franchise i love"

Devs need to stop using existing franchises as a platform to launch new IP's. When i buy SC, or hitman, i expect SC or hitman, not the bourne identity. When i buy something labelled "apple" the last thing i want is a fucking banana.

Indeed, when we buy something labelled "apple" we should just expect to be robbed. Unless you like to buy an i5 and an intel hd for 2000+ euros, in that case im sorry you didn't get robbed, you are just stupid.

KORNdog, well, again I would disagree that this isn't Hitman. I agree with your point though, but triple A titles need to sell, and popular franchises sell.

in the case of splinter cell conviction I it was made worse by a shaky development. I remember the first E3 they should it and it looked really interesting. And then they changed it all...

Actually I think you'll find a Mac of that spec costs around €600. I am not saying Apple aren't a pointlessly expensive brand, but let's not get all dramatic about it.

The idea/trend of choice this generation is kinda laugh worthy. Your choices in this game will likely be just as limited as any other game that talks of it.
I'm sure you'll be forced to play a certain way throughout the game regardless.
