As Guerilla Games announced it a few days ago, a patch was made available just in time for the launch of Horizon: Zero Dawn. PS4 owners will now be able to choose between Performance mode (with enhanced graphics - though it's not clear what is improved - and a steadier framerate - still at 30) and Resolution mode (2160p checkerboard resolution and more detailed textures). We recorded some 1080p to show you the difference, so tell us what you think. The 2 videos start with the performance mode.
Update: 3 comparative videos added, this time recorded in 4K. All 3 start with the resolution mode. 4 images have also been added.
Update 2: Second comparison gallery added.

And I might point out that you're the first person to use the word "native" in this thread.

To quote Solaire... jolly cooperation is pretty rad.

Temporal projection/checkerboard rendering reconstructs the image as part of the rendering pipeline. It's not even close to the same thing. And the results are worlds apart as well. Rainbow Six Siege looks great at 1440p and 144hz with this method. Surely doesn't look like it's rendered at half resolution. Nor is it the blurry mess that you see upscaling 1080p to 4K.
Set your render scaling to 50% in any game and compare it to a checkerboard image.

I know I am going to get banned for posting this stuff that isn't pro-Sony. Just like I had happen on my last account.

It is another upscaling technique. Which is fine, 540p games upscaled on 360 looked really good. Don't call checkerboard upscaling other that just better upscaling.
Peace... waiting for my ban Gamersyde/Yoshida.
