Team Ninja needs to make a golf game. Then I'd care.

It looks like it'll be a great online golf game, from what I've seen.

This is one of those mysterious and incomprehensible titles. Best selling in Japan and a complete neverheard in the west.

did they fix the jaggies? The game is actually pretty popular in North America as well and sells well. It's not a golf slim though, just a fun arcady game

@ Joergen )

actually you are wrong - the 3rd game in the franchise (the first for PS2) managed to sell more than a million copies outside of japan aswell

@ topic )

DJ Mizuahara still has quite some work to do to improve at the game - he only get's par on holes I frequently get eagles or even albatrosses on :P

I can't wait for the game to come out in Europe ... maybe I will import it although I can't read Kanji (but I understand Kana and spoken japanese a bit)

Lafiel: Well the PS2 sold 70 million in the west so every seventieth PS2 owner knows this game first hand. In case you dont have 70 PS2 owning friends chances are you havent played or heard of it ;)

It'll be interesting to see wether this will sell well in Japan (& wether it'll actually boost hardware sales significantly). All the previous ones have, but this time the game's for a console that's not doing as superbly sales-wise and has a serious competitor in Japan (which is kicking the crap out of PS3 in sales, atm).

PS3 is dead in Japan. At this point I doubt even Final Fantasy XIII could save it in Jpn

It's hardly dead, there just hasn't been any big games to boost the sales (and no, a Gundam game & the third rerelease of the same game are not big). If it was dead it wouldn't be dominating the top 5 of Famitsu's Most Wanted. There's still clearly a lot of interest in PS3 in Japan (at least in the more or less hardcore gamer crowd, probably not too much within the casual group of gamers that are obsessed with Wii), but they are waiting for that something that would push them over the edge to buy the console.

It looks so fantastic that I just ordered the Japanese version (out today, £25 shipped from Yes-Asia.com).

Off-topic slightly, what video formats will PS3 play? I had heard it did MP4, but I downloaded the MP4 video from this page and put it on my memory stick, and the PS3 saw the stick but said there were no video files on it. Sorry for being stupid, I only picked it up a couple of days ago so I'm new to it.

@ Zomoniac )

I don't know for sure ,but from what I heard you have to press triangle and select show all files or sth. like that to see the files on the memory stick.

This has a strange sort of look to it.. the lighting and courses look very realistic, yet the characters obviously are far from it. Surprisingly it all manages to mix together quite well. I dig it.

PSP game was very good too.. never really played the older entries.

I seriously cannot wait for this game. It sold 150K in the first day. That's pretty good if you ask me. Oh, PS3 isn't dead...not even close.
