First 10 minutes PS3

Not many game have the ability to move the player deep inside and even fewer manage to reconcile innovative gameplay mechanics with poetry the way Fumito Ueda did with Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. Therefore, when Sony announced The Ico & Shadow of the Colossus Collection in HD glory, it was hard not to get overly excited. What then of the quality of the port? Is it worth spending a few bucks/quid/euro? To find out, check out our homemade videos of the two games.
Update: We remind you all that the collection ships this week.

A few words to confirm what the videos will show you. No, this HD version of the two iconic games is not as perfect as we would have hoped for. 1080p and 60 fps is obviously the least we could expect but it's a bit of a shame to see that textures have not been improved over time. In 2002 and 2005, it was easy not to pay attention, but today in HD, they are too blurry to be worthy of the two titles' greatness. However, Ico and Shadow of the Colossus have not lost the magic of their visuals, and it's true that when playing, you don't really notice the poor textures anymore. Shadow of the Colossus clearly benefits the most from this port as the terrible framerate issues of the PS2 version are now long gone, making the fights against the giants even more impressive now.

All technical considerations aside, this collection features two awesome games you should definitely try if you hadn't when they were released. As for the others, if you are anything like me, you won't mind another journey in Ueda's world as it is just one of a kind. Ico and Shadow of the Colossus look rather good in HD, we just wish they had looked divine.

A pity...if they had implemented high resolution textures these could have been up there with some of the more impressive games this gen...I suppose we will have to wait for TLG to see what they can do with current hardware

It makes no sense, there was sound when I captured the video... Oh god, I'll look into it and try to propose a new version tomorrow but I can't do much right now I'm afraid... Sorry about that. :/

Thanks for letting me know.

WHERE is Last Gaurdian
In development?

It was announced in 2009, which wasnt really that long ago... I expect it'll release in late 2012. not bad considering they built an entire engine from scratch. It takes time. Look at LA noire, alan wake, GT5, killzone etc etc. I can wait no matter how long it takes. It's bound to be amazing.

I had to redo the whole capture, so I'll put the replacement video up tomorrow (with sound \o/).

My apologies again, sometimes things just won't work. :)

who was the delusional guy who claimed this to be 1080p? to be fair, it was sony who lied in the first place. And why the hell some reviewers take a cheap shot on how that new gameplay should be added tweaked in a HD port? Jesus.

It's a shame these games now look like shit, Would really like them to put more effort in. However i loved Ico on PS2 and not played SOC so it's still a day 1 for me.

Awesome, beautiful touching and unforgettable. Every second spend with both of them was so damn great. I also hated myself for defeating every single beast in SotC....

"This" (footage) as you're saying is not 1080p as we CAN'T capture 1080p videos with our capture equipment on consoles.

The two games support 1080p (and 3D) so you can feel relieved now.

Blown away especially by SoTC. Few things match the scale of the first collosi when you see it walking.

MORE PLEASE at least show the second colossi and I'll be sorted. ohh wait you have. I want more :(.

Screw it, pre-ordered it. The reversable cover ala resistance 3 with no logo's or labels to show off the artwork kinda tipped me over the edge.

The second colossus is shown in the second gameplay video of SofC. There is no sound but I'm taking care of a fixed version now. It should be there soon.

New gameplay 2 video is up. It shows the same colossus but since I had to redo it, there are some minor differences, which basically means I suck even more. ;p

Man SOTC is even more beautiful in HD. ICO the older game obviously doesn't have the same amount of style and beauty. But SOTC looks totally worth it

I just want soooooooome kinda new footage of Last Gaurdian. I'm dyin for it!
