Not many game have the ability to move the player deep inside and even fewer manage to reconcile innovative gameplay mechanics with poetry the way Fumito Ueda did with Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. Therefore, when Sony announced The Ico & Shadow of the Colossus Collection in HD glory, it was hard not to get overly excited. What then of the quality of the port? Is it worth spending a few bucks/quid/euro? To find out, check out our homemade videos of the two games.
Update: We remind you all that the collection ships this week.
A few words to confirm what the videos will show you. No, this HD version of the two iconic games is not as perfect as we would have hoped for. 1080p and 60 fps is obviously the least we could expect but it's a bit of a shame to see that textures have not been improved over time. In 2002 and 2005, it was easy not to pay attention, but today in HD, they are too blurry to be worthy of the two titles' greatness. However, Ico and Shadow of the Colossus have not lost the magic of their visuals, and it's true that when playing, you don't really notice the poor textures anymore. Shadow of the Colossus clearly benefits the most from this port as the terrible framerate issues of the PS2 version are now long gone, making the fights against the giants even more impressive now.

i like games like these
Thanks for letting me know.
It was announced in 2009, which wasnt really that long ago... I expect it'll release in late 2012. not bad considering they built an entire engine from scratch. It takes time. Look at LA noire, alan wake, GT5, killzone etc etc. I can wait no matter how long it takes. It's bound to be amazing.
My apologies again, sometimes things just won't work. :)
The two games support 1080p (and 3D) so you can feel relieved now.
MORE PLEASE at least show the second colossi and I'll be sorted. ohh wait you have. I want more :(.
It seems like everybody loves these games.
