Xbox 360 PS3

EA today released these images from the Xbox 360 version of Team Fortress 2, which will be released as the Orange Box next week in Europe on PC and Xbox 360.

Too bad they went with no AA by the looks of it.....but on the other hand im sure it's 60fps instead....

AA is hard to show in screenshots, especially if they're captured straight from the buffer. Most screenshots with AA have been doctored, usually output at a much higher resolution and scaled down to give the illusion.

Also, allot of developers have been using other techniques to soften edges that are faster but depend on motion to work. Gears is a good example as the jaggies are very noticeable in SSs but not while playing.

I'm going to pick this up as I have not played H2 yet and it is a grate deal. TF2 should be a good multi player game to hold me over until CoD4:MW.

I preordered the 360 version on ebgames.com and am stunned to see it's already out for delivery in my area, gonna be getting it today, eb shipped a day early!

No MSAA, no siloutte blurring, no DOF in the shots, and no MB in the shots. The aliasing really diminishes the clean, cartoon look. Gabe had said they were doing AA without tiling... now it appears they dumped whatever they were doing. All an opinion, but the artifacting in this shot is very annoying to me. Texture resolution isn't very high either. So it seems the nicer screenshots have all been PC based. I wonder the sort of rig needed to run this on high.

i've been playing the PC BETA for 3days now, it's excellent game.

And yes it does look much better on PC ¬_¬
And I only got Nvidia 7600 and i can max everything.

I run mine on every max at 1680x1050. Quad Core, 4GB Ram, 8800GTS 640mb.

Cant wait for portal to be honest but TF2 is blowing me away still :)

This site should change its name to include "AA" or "jaggies" somewhere in the title. I see this kind of shitty debate in almost every topic. If it's not that it's hair or grass or other nonsense. I understand this site focuses more on the graphical aspect of games but you guys are being ridiculous.

This game looks really good. And it looks like it might be a lot of fun too. But i'm always intimidated by these team-based games. To be honest i'm not particularly skilled when it comes to FPS games so having to be part of a team kind of scares me off. I don't want to be that one annoying guy that sucks :P

Ah just got done playing an hour of the original Half Life 2, an hour or so of TF2 and an hour of Portal.

TF2, because that's what this post is about. Doesn't look as bad as these shots on my TV at all, however, it may be that bad if you took a single frame. If you're playing right at all, you won't notice the aliasing.

I was surprised to see the game tell me the game is running in 1920x1080i (because that's what I have it set at in the system settings, I have a CRT HDTV. If the game is actually rendering 1920x1080i there may be a chance those with 1080p TVs can get the full resolution, not even upscaled, which would be impressive.

the original Half Life 2 looks WAY better and runs better than on my P4-3GHz and 6800GT with 2GB of RAM. About 4xAA if not more, none of that transparency AA though, so alpha trans textures still have some nasty aliasing. The HDR is really noticeable, looks really nice. There are great new dynamic shadows, which add a lot to the flashlight effect. I also noticed the game looked WAY more colorful, but it might be the diff between my PC monitor and my HDTV...

Portal looks and plays great, better than I thought it would be, very entertaining. Anyways, I think everyone's gonna love this one. I hope tons of people play TF2 on 360, because there were only a few servers up when I played (with a fair amount of people). It can get a little laggy, but I think a good host will be able to better support the 16 people servers.

I would suggest you actually try the 360 version before you talk about it's quality. I think it's incredible looking while playing, these shots lack AA, but they're just screenshots...

oh damn, we (europeans) are getting this game 10 bloody days after you americans :(
and yeah, the screens we have been getting before the release were much more better looking with all the antialiasing, and these ones now ... just like acert pointed out, feel like the toon effect was sort of lost, because of the lack of AA.
Sure hope its looks much better in motion, because im sure it will play good.

I don't know. When I first fired it up on the 360, my first thought was "Damn, this game looks better on the PC". After playing for a couple of hours, I'm not sure I'd readily make that distinction. Or maybe that's to say, after you play for a couple of hours, it really doesn't matter if the graphics seem a bit less "crisp", because you're having so much fun.

On a different measurement scale of sorts, on the PC I seemed to always lose. So far I'm doing pretty well with the 360 version. So there's that.

There's a commentary mode in TF2, and after messing around in the 360 version a bit, I think there's at least SOME AA in that version, it seems better than these shots, but you wouldn't notice the AA as much in motion anyways.
