As the Dark Knight is breaking record after record in the movie industry, Bob Kane's Batman strikes back on our game consoles in Eidos' and Rocksteady Studio's Batman : Arkham Asylum, action-investigation game today unveiled with a bunch of impressive screenshots. Surprisingly promising.

Well the fire and smoke in the first pic look incredible. And everything else looks shocking. Did they not notice before sending these pics to the press that all four characters in pic 1 are standing in EXACTLY the same stance?

EDIT: WTF?!?! The pics in the gallery have changed in between me starting that message and pressing send! What game were the 7 pics that were in this gallery from?

It's not based on the movies, but on the comic's.
EA hold the license to make a game based on the movies but have done nothing with it as of yet.

Not sure if you were implying that there haven't been any good Batman games, but the old NES one was great, so it has that to compete with.

I wasn't sure myself. It's definitely inspired by the recent movies, if nothing else.

Looks good, the fact it isn't based off The Dark Knight means that it has potential. Think I'll keep my eye on this.

I also digg the look of this game. A lot. It looks like it will be a special batman game since all other batman games or superman kind of games suck so bad.

Apparently the banter that the Joker gives in this game is hilariously brilliant. Also, every major villain is said to be in it - including the Riddler and Penguin. There's even a hint that you'll be able to play as the villains as well!

This is very much near the top of my 2009 most wanted list.

The Joker looks like one scary bastard. Personally I thought Ledger only showed glimpses of how psychotic the Joker could be, especially when his voice changed to that menacing deep and threatening tone. You get the impression, with the look of this Joker, that he'd be a lot more evil and frightening than Ledger's.

I didn't think Heath Ledger's Joker was that great. If he hadn't died I bet the critics would have been saying how disappointing he was rather than saying it's an Oscar winning performance, lol! I prefered Jack Nicholson's Joker. People say Jack Nicholson was just playing an exaggerated version of himself wheareas Heath Ledger acted completely different than himself but I don't think you can put down the previous Joker just because of good casting! Plus what did the critics think Heath Ledger's Joker was going to be like, a dull Australian? Lol! Of course he had to act different from his usual self.

While I do believe that the movie is doing so well at the box-office because of Ledger's death, I think it's a gross miscalculation to think that critics would have been disappointed by his performance if he was still alive. What was wrong with his performance? Or do you just simply prefer a different kind of Joker?

If he wasn't wearing make-up he'd just be 30s style gangster who licked his lips alot. (Which became annoying rather than creepy, lol!) I know Heath Ledger only had so much to work with since Chris Nolan wanted the Joker to be more "realistic" (so Batman can have that sonar machine thing which seemed a little implausible but the Joker can't have any "joke" gadget weapons? And how about a few more Joker style jokes? I know they're often pretty corny but a psycho telling corny jokes makes them funnier. Then there's the fact that he was just wearing make-up rather than his face being white because of falling into toxic waste.) but he should have at least acted more maniacal or something, he just came off more like a retarded psycho sometimes. Jack Nicholson and Mark Hamill's Joker performances are quite different yet they both work, Heath Ledger's Joker just didn't work as well and I still think that if he hadn't died then quite a few critics wouldn't like his Joker as much. Anyone who does think it's remotely Oscar worthy (although personally the Oscars don't mean much to me) can you tell me what was so amazing? Personally I'd put Cesar Romero's performance above Heath Ledger's.

Wow, that's ridiculous. You're entitled to your opinion of course, but Heath Ledger's Joker makes Jack Nicholson's Joker look like a joke (no pun intended), regardless of the fact he is dead. It was believable, comical, emotional, psychotic... just mesmerising. Whilst Nicholson's is entertaining, Ledger's is on another level.

Anyway, back on topic... this game's looking good.
