PC Xbox 360 PS3

Some of you might remember Crossfire, announced during X06 - Eidos own co-op game. Back then it was planned to be released in the end of this year, but it has now slipped over to 2008, under the name of Conflict: Denied Ops. The developer, Pivotal Games, are responsible for the Conflict: Desert Storm series, so it's probably not a stupid move to use the brand again. Inside you'll find three images that looks much better than the last one released, plus some more info about the game.

Quoting the press release:
Previously announced under the working title of CROSSFIRE, CONFLICT: DENIED OPS is an innovative new two player co-op FPS from award-winning developers, Pivotal Games, and is the fifth game in the best selling Conflict series.

CONFLICT: DENIED OPS is set in today’s volatile political climate, focusing on two covert field operatives, experts in weapons and military tactics. The game allows players to switch seamlessly, at any point, between these two operatives to lay down covering fire, explore diverging paths through the levels, create distractions and pin the enemy under fire.

Making full use of Pivotal’s new Puncture Technology™, the game features a highly destructible environment, allowing players to shoot through walls to create sniping holes or blast through walls to take the enemy by surprise. Taking place in politically sensitive areas across South America, Africa and Russia, CONFLICT: DENIED OPS features an intuitive command system, non-stop action and Hollywood-esque explosive moments throughout.

“This is our first chance to develop a Conflict game for next-gen platforms,” said Alex McLean, Technical Director at Pivotal. “Working on the 360 and PS3 we’ve been able to take the series to new heights, with true next-gen lighting, advanced enemy AI, an explosive environment and unique tactical co-op gameplay. CONFLICT: DENIED OPS marks a new era for the Conflict series.”

When the US government needs intelligence but wants no association with an operation, deniable operatives are dispatched. Responsible for covert paramilitary actions, the Special Activities Division is a division of the Central Intelligence Agency, now the National Clandestine Service. Members of the unit must bear no identity; no objects, papers or clothing that could associate them in any way with their employees. CONFLICT: DENIED OPS draws its inspiration from this group of highly skilled individuals.

We're talking about bottom of the barrel material right here, ladies and germs. I'm wondering, after all the PR disasters, whether CIA is still a bankable name outside the US. Maybe it is for the target audience, I don't know.

Such an amount of detail. Of course they'll come with "the ps3 version is slightly better".

It looked better last time. At least it had some style.

Now it just looks terrible, both technically and artistically.

I've played Conflict Desert Storm and i really enjoyed it.. But removing the squad system and just making this for two player coop is suicide in my eyes... Why not just make people play as the squad from the old game(but not the same charachters too old) like let's say that some body of mine is an amazing sniper and another is a badass demo-man right? just let me and my buddies play online like a squad with different gameplay elements for each character.. so the feel for each character is different from one another..

What chu talking 'bout?! The conflict series was awesome, most notably Conflict Vietnam. This is gunna be the shizznizz if its a conflict game.

And its always nice to see people jumping on the bandwagon so easily here, funny i never seen them comments on Crysis, or MOA: Airborn

i really dont mind first person shooters, they're the most immersive games in my opinion, but having another military first person shooter is just to much. we're already getting tons of first person shooters already that involves war/military like Call of duty, brothers in arms, Halo 3 etc. We really need something new like a FPS Sims game! or rock climbing FPS.

why do eidos games always have this....own kind of character design? I mean all the characters in eidos games look almost the same...they got this tombraider/badguy-look...hard to explain.

The characters look horrible, but the surroundings look really cool, great textures.
Hm, well, I'm not interested into this one, though I don't know anything about story, or anything else about this game. But you're right, one more FPS??!!! Hm, slowly it's gonna be too much....
