Gamewatch put online this gallery of Armored Core 4 images, and it's rare enough to mention that these are HD images. If only it happened more often!

Nice. I hope they are still making this for the 360 because I wont have the money at at the time this game comes out to buy a ps3.

Screenshots certainly look exciting.
They are missing something though but I can't put my finger on what it is.

Also, Eddy- It's a matter of not wanting to get/pay that much for a PS3 as you'll be surprised how quickly you end up with $600 when you start saving up.

It really doesn't look all that good. Aside from the mecha, the bacgrounds are fairly low-poly, and everything either has a muddy or low-res texture (or both). Is there some limitation to the PS3 hardware that explains why the textures look so crappy on so many games?

I sense some hating. I dont see how you can say this doesn't look that good. I never seen better gfx in a game.

compare those to Chromehounds:

If you're gonna compare screens at least choose two that are comparable. That one has the robot so far away you can't see any detail.

This one is a little better:
http://xbox.advancedmn.com/images/media/chromehoun...

As you can see, not only is the model's detail level pretty much the same, but it at least has more texture detail than just plain steel gray (even though that's a pretty basic camo pattern there). I have a lot of high hopes for this game, it's just that this isn't the first game that I've seen that has less than stellar textures. I'm curious is there's a problem with the amount of texture memory available or if there's some other issue.

There are no issues. I know exactly which "downgrade" about the PS3 you are trying to point out but trust me, after Virtua Fighter and Virtua Tennis have been confirmed as 'Arcade perfect', there is no doubting PS3.

Also if you really want to get to comparing on textures- Virtua Tennis was run both on X360 and PS3 side by side BY SEGA itself just to demonstrate the PS3 has better TEXTURES and more crisp visuals.
I have no idea why they did that- Perhaps to shut some Xbots up but I am so glad they did it and I hope more developers run side by side both versions.
Not particularly so a fan of one console (although I am really starting to think many X360 owners are more of a "PS3 hater" rather than an "X360 player") can go "LOL PS3 IS THE SUXORZ!" but it would be interesting anyway.

Also I don't know about BlimBlim but these pointless comments that always say "Hmm, looks bad compared to x360" or "lol THIS is worth $600?!?! LOLOLOLOL!!" or "hmm, i think, THINK there is something on the PS3 that makes games look crap, does anyone know what it is?" or something along those lines are clearly trolling, is it not?
Don't post "omfg its my own opinion!!!" Well, obviously it is but your opinion comes from the fact that you love your X360 so much (or rather hate the PS3 so much or Sony or whatever, who cares) and you are blindly bashing this and that and it is realy annoying.

Keep the negativity to yourself. If you don't want something or don't like something, stay away from it.

Chromehounds is one of those games that has its "moments" of looking nice. While the rest of the time Im just thinking "damn, this looks like shit." I played the demo, and couldnt even finish it....you talk about dull? I was so looking forward to that game too, but damn.

http://images.xboxyde.com/gallery/public/3523/822_...

it has its moments of nice scenery with its gfx, but that is what it looks like on average. The effects, shading, and gfx style of Armored Core 4 to me, look far more advanced. Actually being able to move more than 1mph in the mech, and lift off of the ground is a plus too, at least for me.

Believe it or not, I'mactually pretty hyped about this game, I'm just worried about its visuals, that's all. I've played many of the Armored Core games, heck I even played Frame Gride on the Dreamcast, so I understand about the fast moving mecha and all that.

Armored Core and Chromehounds are really two different types of games, both in terms of style and gameplay, and it's a little unfair to compare the two. I could just as easily say "Armored Core is so unrealistic. You have those big robots and they move that fast and fly! I'd rather play a more realistic game," but I didn't. I'm not trolling, I'm expressing a concern.

If at some point in the future I'm going to spend $600 for the privilige of buying and playing games for a system, I want it to be freaking special. This isn't special. It's average, at best, and it's not the only game I've seen that looks that way.

I think these screens were taken from the 360 version... :|

From Software hasn't even got their game up and running on the PS3 yet cuz it's so hard to develop for unlike the wonderful 360... LOL!

I doubt the games will be arcade perfect like the developers claim they will be.

Maybe thats because the PS3 version is being ported by AM2 the actual developers while the Xbox 360 version is being ported by an outside source (Sumo Digital) plus add to the fact that th e360 version was in development like 2 or 3 months after the PS3 version. Lets also add the fact hat th ePS3 version was on a 1080p monitor while the Xbox 360 version was on a 720p monitor. Lets have this discussion when an arcade game is ported by the same company and being displayed on the same type of display.
I have no idea why they did that- Perhaps to shut some Xbots up but I am so glad they did it and I hope more developers run side by side both versions.

They didn't shut anyone up. All they did was was made Sony fanboys look even dumber.

I suggest you know what you are talking abotu before coming into a forum and looking dumb by making stupid claims.

They could also just gave the PS3 higher res textures to make it look like it's better
