Xbox 360

Ubisoft has released five images from the upcoming PC/X360 title Dark Messiah of Might & Magic, looking quite impressive with all those strange monsters. Remember that the screenshosts probably are from the PC version, and hopefully we'll see more of the console version at E3.

We can't always rely on the resolution, as X360 ports often are in 4:3 resolution in early stages. Phantasy Star Universe still is, Fifa World Cup 2006 was just one month before release, and Timeshift was when it was announced for X360.

i think it's from the PC-version cause the texture-resolution is really insane. would be cool if they could port it over to the 360 with that texture-quality

Sorry for being dumb, but why wouldn't the 360 handle those textures? I mean, 3 cores and the best graphics card available (kinda)?

Looks alright, like the flame-casting animation on the hand. Bit bland though.

the reason you can't guarentee that texture quality is because you have, by comparison, significantly less system and graphics memory avaliable, and you also have to stream all new data from a DVD not the hard drive, which as you might imagine is extremly slow in comparison. So while it's possible, it's significantly more difficult.
And who really knows how well the half-life 2 engine copes with consoles. It could run brilliantly, it could bomb horribly.

On a side note,

freaking skeletons. Argh. *sigh*

This title isn't my style :) Also of course such textures are possible on the 360. We are allowing early 360 titles to fool us. Hell ghost recon's textures look awesome, but that is wildly overlooked.

Just look at the darkness for example everything looks awesome. For the record the 360 is MORE than enough for the half life 2 engine. Ati gpus are notoriously amazing in half life 2 and with what the 360 is packing it can definetly handle hl2 without a hitch. An x800 class gpu can runs half life 2 like its nothing so why in the world would the 360 struggle with the hl2 engine?

Also its not much of a problem to handle those textures on the 360. Its all about texture management (which as john carmack says is always something that needed to be done on consoles) and 512MB is more than enough. Even the most demanding pc games, in regards to textures, can run perfectly fine on 512MB. PC developers get away without using texture management when they target high end computers. For the 360 as long as its done such textures are easily achieved. Also for the record such extreme textures doesn't exactly make this thing look amazing... alot of it is insanely overdone.

Alot of the information even though its coming from the dvd rom drive it can easily be targeted to benefit from the hard drive similar to what alot of xbox games did and they can do it as well with 360 games.

I'm a little bit of a rush and can't find a press release right now, but I just remember that Snoopers added the game to the database last year.

I thought I saw a comment that insulted this games graphics. I could have sworn I read it a few minutes ago. Perhaps he was banned from the site. I was just about to lash at him. This game looks friggin gorgeous with excellent use of texturing. The bump-mapping on the serpent is impressive.

No one has really confirmed it for PC yet, but it's speculation so far that it will be on 360.

I hope so, the game looks nice and fun to play.

me too :(

anywho, i wish devs would keep the texture detail and cut on the distance in order to save resources for the textures

i know oblivion looks awesome in the distance thing but i'd rather have hi quality textures close to me which is where im looking most of the time anywayz

and let's not speak of performance issues since the game needs to constantly load crap for the distance...

man this is looking absolutely gorgeous...at least on PC :(

The monsterdesign is nice, if the devs can match this with apropriate animations this could turn out beautiful, even thou they really overdid it with the bump/normal mapping
