Wait, I thought that each Dynasty Warriors game had a unique story. So it's always the same few characters or what? I've kinda ignored this series for an entire decade.
They're still using frame bufferring for motion blur (PGR3 spoilt us a bit methinks!), but hey, this game is starting to grow on me. I too wish to tenderise things, and I won't have to buy a PS3 to do it! (HS+Skint)

Dynasty Warriors retells the story of the Romance of Three Kingdoms every game. Of course they change a lot of stuff up like adding whichever cutscenes they feel is important at the time for that character's perspective as well as adding the key battles which happened during that time period, but the core story is always the retelling of the Romance of Three Kingdoms with a what-if spin near the end of the character's life (since you are successful) on what would have happened if that character/person survived even though most of the people get killed in the real tale.
Typically each game constantly adds more characters to offer more perspectives on the wars that ensued and various attempts to reunite China during this period. They have up to 50 something characters right now.
