Trailer Xbox 360 PS3 Wii

Activision is now targeting the non-hardcore rock fan with Band Hero, a game much like Guitar Hero but with much more "casual" music. Purists will hate it, but who here didn't have to go and find the more popular titles in their Rock Band playlist when they had people home?

It's like a Damnass hero for me, guitar hero with valueless pop things, it would be funny but why is this title? It's defenetly the same game with crap soundtrack. I don't mean it is bad, but Santana, Black Sabbath, Rolling Stones, Metallica, G n' R are true musician LEGENDS, not summer-sensation teen-stars. I'm very sad abut this but I understand that probably many people would like it.

Anything metal is a good example of what this audience doesn't want. We're talking Katy Perry vs All That Remains, not big ass metal band phenomena vs small town local band. So, big name bands, like Falloutboy, softer music, unlike disturbed, all that 'good' stuff. Besides, its a spin off, don't be pissed off cause it's not your music.

I'm not pissed of because they pick music i don't like, i'm pissed because Neversoft never picked music that is fun to PLAY. They should pick songs with fun guitar parts, not popular music with crap guitar parts and then have us play freaking synth solos becasue there's not enough guitar to go around. But then again i guess the average GH player doesn't give a hoot as long as it's cold play. Honestly i think GH went totally down the drain as soon as Harmonix left. I haven't tried Rock Band yet, but perhaps i should.

Yeah Megido you should try Rock Band because it's the far superior game.
Better animations, better career mode and imho the better songs, service etc.
I'm a huge music games fan since GH1 but imo RB2 is by far the best one.
I already bought about 200songs and I own an ION Drumrocker beside the usual guitars and mic although I play guitar in real life

Pff, scrub. I've been playing rythm games since DDR on the PS1 ;)

But seriously, perhaps i should give Rock Band a try then but not immediately...i've kind of lost interest more and more in the genre overall, but the drums do hold some appeal. Ah well, i'll burn that bridge when i come to it.

I wish there would be a music game dedicated to something a bit more interesting. Like instead of The Beatles game, I would rather get a Rock Band with bands that were influenced by them. But that's not going to happen.

What was so hardcore about GH before Neversoft took over, or Rock Band, for that matter?

Grift: i think GH1 and 2 clearly contained more classic rock and good songs from a guitar playing perspective, once neversoft took over the track list started leaning more and more towards pop that sells than what's fun to play (i think anyway). Don't know if GH1 and 2 were more hard core in any sense, but they had songs better fitting the theme and gameplay. That's all i'm saying. I'll take me some Heart, Sabbath and Guns over the killers any day, from a pure guitar playing perspective. Also harmonix were like one billion times better at laying out the button presses.

I also played DDR on PS1, played the Parappa the rapper games, got DDR on Dreamcast with 2 dancing mats, bought Samba de Amigo with Maracas, Donkey Konga with Bongos etc. but I never enjoyed them as much as I do RB2.
Sure Rockband with all its Metal(core)songs is more my cup of tea...

Also i was just joking up there you know, didn't mean to offend ;)

Seriously, people should get off Neversoft's back about not picking "hardcore" songs. Please explain The Beatles Rock Band then?

That being said, I'm a HUGE Beatles fan and just can NOT wait till 9.9.9. My point is that the music doesn't have to be "hardcore" for it to be fun to play.

The type of music isn't what bothers me about this game. It's that they've gone from making a new GH game once a year, to churning these out once a month, when they could easily just make the songs DLC. Same graphics, same animation, just with a modded interface and some re-skinned character gear.

The sad thing is, they know people will still pay $60 for these games instead of spending a few bucks on their favorite songs, so they still turn a profit. And even I have made the mistake of falling for this scam before, but I won't be buying any more until Rock Band 3.

@megido
I know that you were joking
"Kick,Punch, It's all in your mind, if you wanna test me..." sooooooooo awesome

I really don't know if this GH or the rock band beatles will be any fun for me because most of the songs (beatles) are slow and easy (don't want to offend beatles-fans).
I learnt in GH and RB that most normal and slow songs are just plain boring and if you crank up the difficulty to hard or master(?) they get ridiculously difficult even if the songs aren't that hard on a real guitar
