Xbox 360 PS3

The very much forgotten Damnation will be released next month, and Codemasters tries to hype the game again with these new images along with a video where the game's producer explains the game's unusual level design.

I was gonna shout "FUGLY... My Eyes, Gawd!", but the map of the video seem kinda cool. Really Huge!

Need more info. :=)

No player navigation gameplay shown, but it's cool that it could be like Stranglehold level design except more open.

i like the idea of navigating the environment how YOU want to, rather then it being a pre-defined path (although i'm sure there will be moments like that too) the fact it's co-op really helps matters too, will give it a rent.

oh, and this is a prime example of the UE3 engine being instantly recognisable as the UE3 engine.

Who says you'll be able to navigate the enviroment without pre-defined paths?

.

It's a Huge game world, like Galleon, but it doesn't mean the 'zip lines' between towers and stuff aren't there for a reason.

Developers.

STOP
HYPING
GAMES
THEN SHUTTING UP FOR MONTHS AND MONTHS.
Hype needs to lead up to release, and not stop after it starts, and not go on and on.

That said, this game is looking good. I am actually kind of excited for it, it looks good.

I have been keeping an eye on this one for some time now. While I have always been on the fence, I have to admit that with this video finally giving a true sense of the verticality and openness of this game, I'm blown away.

Graphically, it still looks like ass. However, for the sheer size and scale of everything, I can forgive it that; UE3 certainly was never designed for openworld games in mind. The devs at Blue Omega would have been better off licensing a proper engine for creating open worlds. Engines like the Assassin's Creed Engine, or Rockstar's RAGE. Or even better still, licensing the Dunia Engine from Ubisoft to create this game.

All the same, despite their middleware choice, I like the direction they are taking this one. I don't buy games anymore, at least not brand new. I GameFly everything. However, because of this video, Damnation just went to the top of my queue. I'm going to have to make sure that I get this the day it ships.

Yeah, Dark Void is already a day one must get, for no other reason than it is a flying game by the same team that developed Crimson Skies. No thanks to Microsoft, we won't ever likely see a Crimson Skies 2, and most certainly not by the original team. However, Dark Void may be exactly what the doctor ordered . . . and who knows, it may even turn out to be a lot better than Crimson Skies.

No thanks to the morons who didn't bought it, and went instead for Ace Combat 4,5,6,7,8,9,10,0,XX for PS2. Get that right.
