Xbox 360 PS2 Xbox

With 2 months left til the real World Cup, and with 18 days til the release of the game, EA released these images from the Xbox, PS2 and Xbox 360 versions of World Cup 2006. Don't ask me about the resolution ratio on the X360 images, I have no idea what they are doing.

lol the england team are barely recognizable. Gerrard looks weird, neville has a massive nose. The 2 that seem to look ok are joe cole and rio ferdinand. Although rio is about 5 shades to dark lol.

x360 images are stunning!
Not sure about the grass? but the stadiums and crowds are awesome!

The blurred crowds in the xbox/ps2 are very funny.
Nice to see the 360 flexing it's muscles.

FIFA at launch looked pretty nice, except for some of the weird facial animations on the characters. Fast forward 6 months and the "sequel" looks significantly worse. Hmm...

utter rubbish , (the 360 ver) not much of a leap over the ps freekin 2 ver. (character models only slighty better and a less blurry crowd)
untill game studios stop making games for the xbox and ps2 we is going to see sh1t like this. "360 flexing its muscles" lmao the 360 isnt even breaking in to a light sweat .

EA are retarded. The difference is visible between the current and next-gen versions but instead of getting better they've sort of veered off into a weird claymation theme.

Also I've never been to Germany but I can pretty safely assume that they don't have a problem with yellow smog, unless some of those 360 shots were taken during a solar flare or a fire in the stadium.

EA are retarded.
what are you smoking??
RTWC1.5 will bore twice as many people in a shorter timeframe!
EA do their best to dissapoint so many loyal football fans and i would appreciate it if you would show some respect to a company that throws out so many shitty games but is still around!
lol you but seriously, this is such an obvious attempt to get money off the football season.

Does the 360 now render primarily in 4:3? Kiss widescreen HD goodbye.

Sorry had to say it.

????

The stands are full of Polygon models, the xbox/ps2 are using texture mapped single faced polygons(probably 40 polygons for the ENTIRE crowd) the X360 version is probably pushing 5,000 polygon fans@ 30 polygons a piece.

Depending on 60fps or 30fps this game is pushing well over 350,000 polygons per frame.

xbox/ps2 is probably 32-35,000 polys per frame.

This is a massive difference(not to mention the higher resolution)

It's Michael Owen (only tell because number 10) also happens to be about a foot (30cm) smaller then Gerrard.

The stands are actually full of flat sprites. Just look at picture 13 and see the bilinear filtering of the low poly sprites ending abruptly into one bit alpha hard edges.

And its not even object instancing because the guy sitting down has no change in the angle of his legs no matter where he is sitting.

Flat sprite crowds. Thats beyond pathetic considering what technologies they have at their disposal like instancing. Other games at least use polygonal characters sprinkled around the crowd and then instance its shape into sprite "stand-ins" but here you get sprites and nothing but sprites.

Well looking at it again I can think it might be instancing but for god sakes up the sample resolution, those are lower than doom1 sprites.

Worst thing they might have done is use pre-rendered sprites ala PSX rendered from a few directions. Now thats next gen!

Even if this was true, it sure as hell doesn't show it. You want polygonal crowds? Look at basically every other sports game with a crowd on the 360. It's pretty obvious, even in a casual gamer's eyes, that the crowds are STILL sprites. It's pretty lame.

Is this guy throwing the cup or is he holding it? My guess is he's holding it which is pretty poor.

lol...all this mumbo jumbo...and the gfx are still unimpressive....350k triangles per frame isnt that much.........u say about 10million polys per sec?
it looks like xbox-ish standards(xbox1 can render till 60millions triangles+many effects), isnt it...?

EA... I'm never working there... ever. Continually pumping out "safe" titles that constantly show no effort or attention to detail. It's made them one of the, if not the, biggest third party developer, but also the most hated. I have made it my life goal to see them go out of business.
