Fall is still months away ...pfff
On the other hand, I don't know what the skill level involved with this game is, so maybe not.
Now GOTY Candidate? Those are really big arse words.
The only thing that sells a system these days seems to be a barrage of mac style commercials.
I agree that if LBP lives up to everything they've stated, it will be contender for GOTY, it's a completely different game. Lots of 360 / PS3 games could be possible on Wii, but you'd not only have to savage the graphics, but change / remove many gameplay elements as well. "Power" includes RAM, internal storage, and processing for stuff like AI and physics, as well as graphics.
Moving systems is completely dependent on marketing, I've never seen a connection between game quality and selling hardware.
Such a charm to it.
On a side-note, I sure hope that Spore comes to the 360 ASAP.
Now I don't doubt that this will be GOTY for most magazines out there because all of the hype it received and all the sales it seems to be an easy pick. No magazine will risk their "good name" and be brave enough to declare another less anticipated game GOTY, like LBP.
It's really looking nice and cute and the gameplay itself seems very entertaining. But this is by no means a systemseller because it lacks the marketing. Someone who's considering buying a PS 3 will first look at the most advertized and established IPs like GT5 (which is a serious systemseller) or FF VIII.
My personal GOTYs are still to come later this year...
This is basically another Gary's Mod type game (to me) on the PS3
PS3 doesn't have the right audience for this type of game... my guess is, low sales and possibly multi platform later if not just PC as well
PC is a lot better suited for this type of game over any console IMO
It looks fun and all, but it also looks like a better-looking version of a free flash game or something. I definitely don't get the hype around this game.

So did the guys who made H-L 2 Portal, so what? Molyneux didn't have the guts to release "The Room" (we gamers don't have anything from superb ideas, which never are integrated into games), while the LBP creators managed to make their approach to the creating side so sophicticated, but at the same time geniusly easily accessible and plain "fun", that it's a game by itself (and that's not where LBP stops). Not an innovative basic concept (there are thousends of other level creating tools on the market), but innovative and simply brilliant tools (and art) made this possible.
@ Ronsauce , Jin187 )
and I don't get the hype over Shooter XYZ 3,4,5 , whatever

Well, which is it?

I have no doubt that people will have fun with this game and some will come up with truly interesting ways of playing it, but it still seems like a glorified flash game. I personally don't enjoy just dicking around, and that's probably all I would do. And like I said, I know other people will do some pretty great things with the game and have fun doing it, but I don't see this game coming close to being GOTY.
I mean, it looks promising, but I dare to say that it won't be GOTY or "system-seller" if people don't know what it's about. I'd throw it on the same pile with pop: sands of time...
