So looking forward to it. Day1 here. PS3 version looked like a PS2 game but it was great game IMO. Glad they din't kill the IP. This one look good with and that weapon is so big to the character though. Looks ridiculous lol

Exactly. Those outfits and swords and stuff, looks like it's a japanese fantasy game and not a documentary. :D

this is looking pretty damn nice. i really like the style of it, and nier 1 was really good too (ugly ass protagonist though lol) i just hope platinum hasn't got too much control in regards to plot.

Platinum have yet to exercise their game development muscle on current gen hardware and I for one would love to see what they could achieve as their pedigree is second to none and right now their talents are being somewhat held back Nier at least looks like their first steps into this gen.

This is probably the game I'm most looking forward to this year, but also the one I'm most worried about. So far, it looks great visually, the combat looks very interesting, and I'm sure the music will be excellent. But I haven't seen any hint that it's anything other than a standard Platinum action game. I need exploration, quests, towns, people. You know, like an actual RPG.

Yaass, Platinum!

After watching the most recent gameplay walkthrough it seems as if Platinum have done it again, Square-Enix has the right idea about how to use Platinum and that is if you want an unparalleled action experience they are your guys.

Looks a lot like what the Rising sequel was meant to be (I guess because it is the same director) and that's not a bad thing, not a bad thing at all. :D

um, have you heard of Scalebound which frankly looks MILES better than Nier, graphically speaking.

Oh and they have exercised their muscle this gen and produced a turd (Legend of Korra) and an OK game (Transformers: Devastation).

and runs about 15 fps (aims for 30), which goes against every platinum release so far as far as i'm aware?

I think he meant flexed their muscle on something that isn't WiiU, of which Nier: Automata would be their first title that isn't sponsored by Activision and a "downloadable" title.

Scalebound should look better, it's aiming for half the frame-rate, so that's not a surprise at all, it's also the studio's most ambitious title to date, but Nier right now looks so much more polished than Scalebound pre-alpha and is likely coming out way before it anyway.

That being said, Nier: Automata also has its own style, an area that Scalebound hasn't quite found its feet in yet, but I imagine with the delay and E3 looming we'll see a very different Scalebound and one that hasn't been dumpster-diving in the UE4 asset packs.

While Platinum aim for 60fps, their games very rarely hold it, also Madworld on the Wii was 30fps, so Platinum can still do action and aim for 30fps.

Not that 30fps is a problem, Okami was a fantastic game.

I like the look and feel of this game, but lack of diversity among the enemies is worrisome. I'm hoping I'm not slashing away at just the Android avatar for 8 hours.
