Wii

Sega finally released some images, CG cutscenes stills and artworks of the kids in NIGHTS for the Wii. The kids are an integral part of NIGHTS' gameplay, not always the best one though, at least in the Saturn game. I wonder why Sega keeps releasing 720p images of this game...

Doesn't look much better than the saturn version (and I've got that). If only they'd release it on 360, it could like the first 12 screenshots... :o(

Where did I see this again??
NiGHTS: Girl & singing >>> NiGHTS Wii: Girl & violin
NiGHTS: Boy & basketball >>> NiGHTS Wii: Boy & soccer... hmmmm..

Compared to the original, the ingame pics look horrible, SEGA (Sonic Team) totaly lost it's Style since Sonic Adventure 2.

And why is SEGA always trying to mess things up that were actually good? There was nothing wrong with the controls of NiGHTS on the Saturn. Same goes for Sonic Adventure. The controls and art style in Sonic Adventure 1 were actually pretty good compared to any Sonic game released after it.

I agree, I loved Sonic Adventure 1! Especially the music in the Amazon area.

Back on topic, ahem...

This is going to be difficult to control with the wii-remote, unless they adopt a simple point-and-click method, where's the fun in that?!!

I think I'll fire up Nights when I get home, just to make sure I'm not being nostalgic!

I'm a big NiGHTS fan, so I'm obviously keeping my fingers crossed for this, but the one level they've shown really does look pretty terrible. It seems to contradict basic knowledge on how to mix colours well, and the entire thing just looks struck by bad jpg compression, and I'm not talking about just the pics. They have like.. a grayish smeared cloud like rock texture for ground/sky that does an absolutely hideous job of covering a large visible area like that.

For a game that used to pride itself on being beautiful, this sure doesn't live up to its own creed. It's not because of the hardware either, it's because of the design, which is rather baffling to be honest.

I hope the other levels are much more beautiful than this one, and surely if they want to rework this one I'm all for that aswell.

By the way, for those that wanna play this like the Saturn game, there's a confirmed option for classic controls.

Wow. Sure brings back some memories. IN-game does look like crap though. I would buy it if it came on 360, just for the heck of it.
(I still think Nights is a girl, no matter what anyone says, no guy wears tights)

The CG is top notch, I wonder who's responsible for it. Movie quality stuff.

Ingame looks like somebody threw up on the screen. I loved Nights on my Saturn, even bought the analog pad for it.

Thanks for the confirmation, SimonM7!

The engine of this game looks just like Sonic 2k6: horrible! The art style looks like that of an average Sims game, not like a Sonic Team game we used to love when SEGA still had it's own consoles..

By the way, Sonic Team does not excist anymore. All the big guys (including Yuji Naka) that were behind all the great games are gone.

Yuji Naka never wanted to make a sequel of NiGHTS, because the sequel would never be as good as the orignal. But after he left Sonic Team, this game was suddenly anounced for the Wii.
Thats right! we don't want a sequel, just give me the old NiGHTS for XBLArcade with some improved graphics :D
